Today when i opened the tab of psa my firewall (rethink) pinged as i have set it to automatically block internet acess of newly installed apps and ask me to decide if i should allow them internet access. The thing is i can’t find them on my phones applist even if i enable system apps to delete it . Rethink shows it in installed catalog and i am pretty sure this is an installed app as i have gone through my system apps several times and just look at it it only tries to connect to that site and is made to pass as a system app . What should i do ? Should i wipe down my phone ? Also /c/ piracy should stop reccomending that shithole site honestly.
PS : Sorry if i’m on the wrong community you can point me in the right direction.
last time i got a virus i made sure i had documents backed up and then formatted the hard drive. that was over a decade ago though so i don’t know how people deal now
Honestly IMO if you have even an inkling that you’ve been got by a virus, nuking from orbit is the only solution.
Is this supposed to be satire ? I honestly can’t tell
Satire would be telling you that you’ll surely get every trace of the virus off your phone and there’s no possibility that you’ll be left with a root kit that can hide itself from the app listing.
What does piracy have to do with privacy? Perhaps put your query and demand on their board?
Wtf are you talking about ? I am asking what should i do and if this is a virus what does piracy have anyrhing to do with it ?
you were talking about !piracy@lemmy.ml and how you were downloading stuff from a site they endorsed, and now you think you got infected by something. So I was asking what does that have to do with privacy?
Is that the point ? I was just giving some back ground
Also i never talked about piracyon lemmy.ml i just said a piracy sub never what instance it is on what are you on my dude ? I want some
In your edit you literally were aluding to /c/piracy and given that you are from ml the leap was not that big to make. But if you were talking about a different server then I must apologise.
