I suppose it depends where & how you look?
wonder how much color saturation was added to those pics, looks like the knob got turned to 11
That second picture looks AI generated, why is it backlit?
Semi-transparent creatures combined with no natural light makes things look unnatural at that depth. Also, considering many things are bioluminescent at that depth, that creature in particular might be generating its own light.
Edit: wow I’m dumb and misread. I thought you were talking about the first image. Yeah, the second one is very fake
Lol it’s not fake its literally a still of Willem Dafoe from the movie “The Lighthouse”.
It’s backlit because there’s a lighthouse behind him
Are we talking about the jellyfish? Because we’re talking about the images openstars posted.
(they’re having fun, not being literal:-)
and yeah that one looks quite fake:-)
2nd image is from the movie “Lighthouse”, and that’s just how it looked.
It might be from that outreach program to kids - I even saw something made up to look like a mermaid in there:-). Anyway yeah, whether made for or by kids, it’s definitely stylized.
Yeah, tineye doesn’t find any matches for it but does for all the others.
The backlight could be sunlight, but the it wouldn’t be deep-sea. It could be another submersible with a light, but I don’t know why two would dive together. The bokeh looks pretty weird also. I think it’s AI.
Could also be in spawn. That could cause backscatter from the lights off the gametes.
But probably fake.
That’s just how the deep sea lures people in. Come see our bright jellies, you’ll be safe
Why is the first picture a Paphiopedilum? (It’s an orchid)
I don’t know, I didn’t make it! It is pretty though…:-)
Willem Defish.
Yer fond of me lobster, ain’t ye?
Deep sea mining
