Recent discussions in the European Parliament can seriously undermine existing cyber security practices and open source development by setting disproportionate obligations and strict requirements for vendors supplying products in Europe.

Forcing individual developers to hold legal responsibility for any damage done (by users) using the piece of software that they wrote is definitely a big stopper… I wonder whether being part of an “open source foundation” would help mitigate the issue, since in this case the foundation would have the means to face trials. Or whether making (forcing to?) users accept an “as-is” disclaimer with an exclusion of liability clause would help.
