Best you can probably do is buy a head unit replacement with Android Auto support. The big-brand ones that work as well as native Android Auto support cost a small fortune, but there are head units available for as “little” as $200 (though you will need to do your own research about fit and wiring if you go for the cheap brands).
Yep. I’m in the same boat. If it can’t be used to generate ad revenue, Google doesn’t seem to care about it.
I think you can still navigate, just not with the assistant function.
Personally I use Head Unit Reloaded anyway since they shut android auto for phone screens. It also works to cast to an android tablet if you’ve got one kicking around
