For context, I got mine done just over two years ago. No complications (as of yet…). I’ve also got two kids already.
A few guys at work were absolutely baffled by my decision, and I even heard one was questioning my masculinity.
I did it when I was married to my ex-wife. I didn’t want kids.
Then we got divorced.
You know what’s really awful? Dating and having to worry about pregnancy. That was never a concern. I have zero regrets. If I wanted to have small creatures running around my house that would destroy everything I cared about, I would get a few additional cats.
My cats make for great children. They don’t all respond to their names, but I never have to clean their arses
…I have had to clean cat butts more times than I would care to. And cat feet, from them pooping on their own feet.
Still better than kids.
lol
As for your co-worker, ask him if he would be able to tell the difference in your masculinity if you fucked him.
Or just say “yeah I feel really feminine when I cum inside my wife”
Personally, I think that sex that involves a woman is less masculine than sex that only involves men.
Women are for girls ! Real men want big, strong boys !
(have I got this right?)
Embarrassed I didn’t think of the classic “your mum doesn’t seem to notice any difference” before
Fair play lul.
Never wanted kids. Wife agreed early on in relationship. 8yrs in got snipped mostly for risk mitigation with recent abortion laws. No regrets, even easier and less stress.
It’s a bit sad that these hideous abortion laws are playing a part in decisions like this
Some abortion clinics have shifted to giving more and more vasectomies, as demand is apprently way up.
Same here. Had been considering it for a while and then scheduled mine right after Roe fell. Best $20 I have ever spent.
I suggest getting a urologist who does “no-scalpel” vasectomy. It uses a sharp forceps to poke a single hole instead of making 2 incisions. Has about 1/10th the rate of complications (already very low) and heals quicker.
I can always adopt if I want more kids. Got it years ago. Highly recommended.
I know someone who got the snip pretty young because he and his wife didn’t want kids. Years later friends of ours had kids and it changed their mind. He got it undone and they had a kid.
Seems like a minor thing to do and condoms are the worst.
They aren’t always reversible and no one should go into it with that mindset.
And that’s fair.
That’s true. But the majority can be.
I actually never minded using condoms and even still, I wished I’d done it earlier. So much better, even the stretch where we still used rubbers because the wife wasn’t ready for creampies yet, I came so much easier knowing there was virtually zero chance of pregnancy.
I have a larger than average and less sensitive than average penis, so as an insertive partner, condoms just aren’t usable for me.
As a receptive partner condoms hurt. Like burning tearing sensation painful.
I found out in my late 30s that there is a common ingredient in cheap water-based lubes that many people are sensitive towards, which causes that unpleasant burning sensation. Most condoms are pre-lubed with the stuff.
Got mine at 27 with no kids. Never wanted any, never had any regrets.
I knew I never wanted to have kids. My wife and I discussed it in depth while we were dating; she felt the same way. Even then, I waited a couple years after getting married just on the off chance that either of us might change our mind. I ended up doing it when I was in my early 30s around 8 years ago and never once have I regretted it.
Best fifteen bucks i ever spent.
I got it done when i was 33, booked it the day I got medical insurance again; that was 11 years ago, no regrets at all.
I got the snip when I was 28. Specifically sought out a scalpeless procedure.
Worst part was the awkwardness of just being on the table naked with some dude going to work on my genitals. Virtually no pain, really for me. The only time was when I decided I was done being particularly lazy/careful and did some cooking. Needed to crouch to get a pain and was VERY uncomfortable.
If you know you don’t want (any, or more) kids, just don’t. Generally speaking, the side effects are worse for your partners to use birth control etc, and its just a one time thing for you.
Got two kids, got the snip after. The wife deserves no longer taking the pill.
Fuck the haters and fuck masculinity.
It’s baffling so many men unerestimate the use of the pill. It affects brain development and cognition. Not to mention the long term side effects.
Exact same story for me. My wife doesn’t need to take the pill anymore which she really appreciates
I’ll give your absolute door-stop of a coworker the benefit of the doubt and say maybe he’s heard a common misconception that getting the snip lowers testosterone.
Sucks to be those misinformed idiots cuz it’s probably the best thing I ever did for my marriage and sex life in one cheap go.
How does being able to have all the unprotected sex you want harm your masculinity? Toxic masculinity is weird. 😄
I got one two years ago after my son was born. Zero long term side effects. I had a more difficult recovery than most with some excessive swelling and bruising. I was on the couch for about a week, but then it all healed up just fine. There’s not even a scar. 10/10, would recommend even with my unusually long recovery. The surgery itself was also a lot shorter than I expected. There was one jolt of pain but otherwise it was pretty quick and straightforward.
My one word of caution to guys considering it is that it’s not always reversible so you need to treat it as a permanent decision.
If you have 2 kids and are sure you don’t want more… Go for it.
Just recently scheduled one about a month out. Bit nervous, but seems like it should be no big deal
It’s really no big deal.
