Council elections may not the be most exciting but don’t be like me a few years ago and forget they’re on until after all the polling booths close…

My electorate has all independents. ie they are all scared as shit to align with any party.

Also, they set up a ‘group’ so they get to have an above the line vote. Every one of these has one male and one female.

The information available about most of these candidates is feeble.

    It’s fucking embarrassing.

While you will get the fine notice you shouldn’t have to pay it - there is an option to reply with a reason why you shouldn’t be fined and being overseas at the time would count as a legit excuse.

Reminder: no out-of-area (‘absent’) votes in this election.

Council elections may not the be most exciting I find them much more interesting, because while my vote is still statistically negligible, it’s much more powerful than in a state or federal election. So less popular choices have a higher chance of competing.

Unfortunately* it feels like most of my local candidates have almost identical policies, so my second and third preferences might as well be a coin flip. At least I know who’s going last.

Do they have demosages (forgive me) for these elections on polling day? It’s the only time I ever eat a sausage sandwich these days. Don’t wanna miss out.

I got my democracy sausage and bacon & egg sanga.

Pretty good value. Snag + onions on 2 pieces of bread (and choice of sauces) was $3.50, and bacon & egg on 2 pieces of bread (choice of sauces) was $4. They didn’t skimp on the bacon either 😋

Oh yeah, and I voted while I was out getting my food 😁

Snag on 2 pieces of bread? That’s a sandwich. What happens to folding it as a wrap because apparently rolls weren’t a thing when BBQ fundraisers started out.

Still, good value. All $5 around here. I was on the BBQ today doing the onions. Didn’t even have one myself. Should have but my kids showed up with my husband to collect me and they all ate while in was still behind the grill.
