I do have the privilige of working only 32 hours per week (4 day work week, but also only 80% pay) but that’s because I am really lucky that my employer agreed to this; I originally started with 40 hours per week as well (although legally my employer had to agree anyway since I live in germany and employees have the right to reduce their hours).
My point is, this is not the norm. Usually you need to have really good and rare skills so that you can dictate the conditions of the contract. Otherwise, every company will just hire literally anyone else. There is always someone willing to work for less what you charge.
