I’ve got an idea, lets tie that lovely diesel subsidy these mining companies get to genuine emissions cuts. Its simple if they don’t do projects that cut emissions then Australia reduces the subsidies we give on the fuel they use.

I like your idea, but raise you a new one. Zero subsidy. Oh it’ll hurt jobs? Sweet, we should run it ourselves and keep all the profits.

Oh but that’d be “inefficient”… and “socialism” (good, but it wouldn’t be socialism in isolation).

Snowy hydro 2.0 and practically every other project handed over to private companies to execute prove how the private companies aren’t any more efficient than government departments, and are trying to do the least work for the most profits possible.

And government departments suffer from the same problems - the lack of democracy in the workplace.

How many non-technical, unknowledgeable do we have to keep putting in charge to learn our lesson? I dunno.

    Thanks for sharing.

Democracy in the workplace, or even just civic engagement in the workplace. A large part of the problem with those silicon valley tech billionaires, like many other company directors, is they live that work part of their lives as mini dictators, while the rest do all they can to support that person.

Talk about inefficencies, spending your time on what the boss suddenly brain farts out and not what is actually good for the company is an inefficiency all those Instagram Business Bros twnd to overlook.
