Given the restrictions on guns already in place, and the intent of those restrictions was at limiting mass shootings like Port Arthur, I’m very doubtful it would yield many suitable rifles.
It would likely be more cost effective to simply buy suitable weapons for Ukraine and donate them.
Which I should note, the Australian government has already donated a lot of hardware to Ukraine. Including forcing the USA’s hand on the issue of donating our M1A1 tanks. 49 of them!
