One Trump voter issued a tear-filled video regretting his decision to vote for the president after his brother, who served with U.S. special forces, died while in Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In a video posted to social media, Naseer Paktyawal tearfully recalled his brother’s service to the country and the moment that ICE “kidnapped” him in front of his son, Imrin. ABC News initially posted the video.
…
“I saw two cars unmarked. Seven, eight people jump out of those cars,” Paktyawal said. “One on the driver’s side, one on the back of his car, and grabbed him from his seat and put a handcuff on him.”
Mohammad Nazeer Paktyawal’s son, Imrin, was also featured in the video and recalled witnessing his father’s arrest. “I was standing there, and then they came and just take him,” the boy said.
Imrin added that he was “standing there” as the agents hauled his father away. “I was like, just don’t take him, please,” Imrin recalled.
According to Paktyawal, he later received a call from an ICE facility. “I thought they were going to release him back,” Imrin said.
“He said, ‘Are you, Naseer?’ That’s me,” Paktyawal said. “Your brother Mohamed Nasir Paktyawal passed away this morning and his body is laying down in a parking lot in the hospital.”
…
“My first vote was for this president, and I regret it, and I’m gonna regret it for the rest of my life,” he added. “Because of me, because of my voting, He got arrested, and he lost his life. And I’m never going to forgive myself for that.”
CNN reported that he was taken by ICE agents outside of his Dallas apartment and died less than a day after being in ICE custody. His family said that Mohammad had no known health conditions and had been seeking asylum in the U.S. since his arrival in 2021.

I think most of the reactions here are sad. Yes, he voted for Trump, but he just lost a brother, man. It’s the same thing with Brexit over here in Europe and the far-right parties gaining more and more ground: people who don’t know any better and want easy solutions to the big problems we are facing get manipulated by scum looking to make themselves rich. Don’t be mad at him for being manipulated. Be mad at the pests manipulating them.
“Didn’t know any better” no they knew exactly well, they’re grown adults and they chose to vote for a well document child rapist because they wanted him to unleash hell on immigrants. Well, he knew well enough his brother is an immigrant, what did he think would happen? He thought all the other immigrants could end deported or dead but he thought him and his family were better than other immigrants and would be spared.
He voted to kill his brother and he got exactly what he voted for.
Nah, they literally voted for this to happen.
It’d be like someone running on a platform to kill gay people. They get elected and start killing gay people. The guy who voted for the person to kill gay people has a brother who is gay. That brother is killed. He never thought they would kill HIS brother!
The Trump Administration is doing exactly what they said they would do. They campaigned on this for years. And people with immigrant family members voted for it anyway.
So with my whole chest, fuck this asshole and fuck him for voting for it. I hope he feels at fault for what happened for the rest of his life. I hope he has future days he voted for, because he voted for the day his brother was killed.
Fuck that. Fuck forgiveness. Fuck this and every fucking Nazi dick sucking Trump voter. What fascism is only a problem when it’s on his front door? What about Renee Good, Keith Porter, Glen Burnie, Carlos Jimenez, who were shot and/or killed by ICE? Those deaths didn’t convince him what is happening is wrong, it had to be a close loved one for him to smarten up.
I disagree to a point. It is absolutely reasonable to be frustrated with someone gullible enough to believe “fix grocery prices on day one.” These voters were either stupid or purposely ignorant, and I’m willing to bet most of them are both.
Nobody in their right mind believes that one person can wave a magic wand and fix everything in one day. I do think these people get what they voted for and unfortunately for this guy it’s a dead brother in ICE custody. Tragic state of affairs but not unforeseeable with Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric and Elon’s full Nazi salute on stage. These people knew exactly what they were voting for and it’s only sad because it affects them now.
doubt that, they are likely too stupid for that. It’s sad because they couldn’t see that, and a very lot of maggats as well.
You already tell that yourself:
Because they’re not in their right mind. Mental health is really on the decline there.
I personally know many trump voters and almost all are legitimately racist and do not care what happens to illegals, so long as it’s not in their immediate circle. Go look at polls of Republicans, they care about people in their family and friends, past that they don’t care. This person would not have cared even a little if it wasn’t their family member, and most likely would’ve had nothing to say. The fact that they were lied to about “immigrants taking their jobs” doesn’t make them caring so little about their fellow man any less reprehensible.
Yes! I knew someone would take the bait. There is no way for the entirety of the Republican party can say that “they weren’t in their right mind” it’s not statistically possible. This is the same party that is pointing at the left with the silly TDS accusations. This isn’t a trial where Trump voters get to plea insanity at the end and get off the hook. They were in their right mind, they knew what they were voting for, and they explicitly did it anyways.
People loooove to give them the benefit of the doubt and say Trump voters are this confused, taken-advantage-of populace. These are the same people wearing “Lion not Sheep” merch. So which is it, are they the strong lion, or are they the confused baby sheep?
Didn’t say that. Just because you’re mentally ill doesn’t take you off the hook. i consider irrationally hateful and being easy to manipulate, mentally ill.
It’s just a sad development of late stage capitalism (and following propaganda)…
but I challenge this, because who with a healthy mind, would vote against their own interests. You need to be masochist, or well, pretty stupid (I’m not talking about the obvious hateful stuff, more like all the things that Trump promises and absolutely not delivers, like improving economy and so on). There’s way too many people that actually believe at least some of the bullshit he says. Well, it’s a cult…
Who? The majority of Republican voters that’s who. What the fuck are you even on about? You’re mixing up irrationality and mental illness. To suggest that a person who votes irrationality must be mentally ill is quite the bridge to cross.
Trump voters are not mentally ill. Well actually statistically there are but that’s a seperate conversation. Trump voters are ignorant and irrational and they like it that way. That’s what they want, they’re not mentally ill, they’re dumber than a rock.
My point is half of the American population is fucking mentally ill, Call it dumber than a rock, ignorant, irrational, call it Republicans, I don’t care. This is not healthy mental behavior. The modern capitalistic world is just not healthy for people. Like psychosis/narcissm and general anxiety disorder (racissm… fear of necessary change, e.g. because of climate crisis), likely schizophrenia… No sane person would elect Trump, yet here we are, Trump winning the popular vote even.
That this is happening on that massive scale is concerning. That’s my whole point…
While I do agree with your sentiment I still think it is less about “right mind/mentally ill” and more about uneducated/willful ignorance.
Red states use the vast majority of well fare resources in this country, but time and time again republicans vote against their self interest and slash those resources whenever possible.
Republicans are generally against universal healthcare and free college education, but a large majority of the 18 yo enlisted military come from middle of nowhere towns with no opportunities. They enlist to have a better life with government sponsored healthcare, housing, and education. Meanwhile voting against those same ideals for the general populous. They have always voted against their self interest. Usually they just do it with the idea of keeping someone else down, but they are just kicking themselves.
guess we need to define what mentally ill actually is, Because in a modern world where information is abundant and you could educate yourself, being this uneducated I think is definitely not a healthy mind. But then again, what do we call the Third Reich? I think it’s also uneducated and mentally ill people. In the end I think it’s just juggling words… When it’s the majority, I guess it can also be the new normal?
And who with a healthy mind to does that?
Anyway, I just see this development in Europe as well, like being completely sealed off to factualism. It’s saddening, to see people once with a somewhat healthy mind, now electing parties like AfD in Germany, distrusting science, being hateful and so on. It’s kind of a mental disease, I wonder how we can fix that realistically…
I think part of it is pent up frustration because people realize the manipulating will never get better. We would need to completely ban Fox News and make a bunch of new media laws for that to happen.
