Lemmy is Activity Pub too and doesn’t have hashtags, it’s a pretty flexible protocol. But realistically they will probably bolt on AP later on, doesn’t have to be there from the get go. WordPress has AP integration now too and it’s just a plug-in for example.
No that was never the point or the plan. They’ve said several times that they plan to add ActivityPub integration but it’s not happened, and probably never will.
