I am having problems reaching Tuta through Mull on my Android (Mull 120.0.0, downloaded from f-Droid). Checking, I saw that Fennec is version 120.1.0.
Just in general, does any of you peeps here have any takes on Mull vs Fennec when it comes to privacy? I have assumed both are on par and also comparable to LibreWolf on PC.
From what I understand, mull is more privacy-centric than fennec. However, I don’t use it because I had trouble accessing some websites with it.
Shared experience then. Thanks!
I personally have used mull exclusively in the past, but use Fennec currently.
Commenting here just to ask others: mull has been terrible since Android 14. Is that just for me? Pages not loading at all until cache is cleared every few minutes, its been completely unusable for me so i switched.
Nothing like that on their github or nothing. Im on a pixel8/grapheneOSDo you have darkreader installed?
Is auto theme switch not working for u?
Not on mobile, no
Thanks!
Use Mull. Fennec is just debloated not hardened.
I used both, and my experience is, that mull has better privacy features but a lot of pages are broken. I go with fennec, because of that.
I prefer Fennec, mainly bacause it is slightly faster (JIT enabled), than Mull, but Mull is more secure, more fingerprint resistant, and more privacy oriented. As a bonus Fennec has some backgrounds for homepage and more cool foxy icon.
Mull is better as it have all telementry collection removed and arkenfox by default.
For broken pages u can open issue on github someone might give option u need to tweak
Believe Mull is better strictly when it comes to Privacy. However I personally prefer Fennec as its closer to the Firefox experience.
tuta has an open source email app, have you tried it?
Not yet. I was trying to go with the browser first, before “IYAP” 😉 (“Install Yet Another App”) But I am likely to end up there.
Idk if you saw my other comment, but there is good reason to consider installing an app instead of using a website.

I think it’s worth asking alongside three other responses that actually fit the shape of the question. Why not the app?
Right now, there’s no way to guarantee website integrity. Tuta could, in theory, push a malicious version of their website to a single person. A version that grabs your password and sends it back to Tuta. Not only would this be hard to guard against, it would be hard for researchers to identify.
Meanwhile, an app is much harder to sneak malicious code into, especially if it’s open source. And releasing a malicious app for a single user is almost entirely out of the question.
Especially if it’s pushed through fdroid, The code would be recorded, so somebody would see they put a special flag just for your phone.
Mull is better in terms of privacy and security but breaks some Websites and addons
If I remember CYT does better on Fennic than Mull.
CYT sucks. Use https://browserleaks.com/
Use them both, but test with http://fingerprint.com
It’s a real tracking company trying to sell tracking software, so they’re trying to prove how good they are, by tracking you in their demo. The incentives are right there. So even if you think you’ve got good protection, make sure fingerprint.com can’t track you
Mull is very good.
I’ve tried using Mull on GrapheneOS but it just crashes constantly so I went back to Firefox.
I’m using mull on grapheneos right now. Works great.
