A screenshot of a tweet from user ShinraArch (Shinra Archaeology Department) that says “FFVII Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi says that Cait Sith’s name is pronounced “Cat Shee.” (Game Informer Shows, 12/21/2023)”. Attached on the tweet is a 3D model of Cait Sith from FF7 Rebirth on a black background
I am hoping someone, just someone, maybe Cid or Red XIII would call him Cat Shit.
Yeah, it’s named after this guy from celtic folklore.
The demonic cat-sith called Big Ears could be summoned (Gaelic taghairm Scottish Gaelic pronunciation: [tɤrʲɤm]) to appear and grant any wish to those who took part in the ceremony. The ceremony required practitioners to burn the bodies of cats over the course of four days and nights.
wow
25 year old mystery finally solved! My best friend at the time,and I always argued about it. He was also dislexic and kept calling Sephiroth, “Seprinoph”.
You’ve just unlocked a painful childhood memory of mine. A childhood friend pronounced Sephiroth as “Seph-eye-roth” and Tifa as “Tiffay”
Oddly, he got Aerith right.
I remember reading The Hobbit when I was six, and in my mind ogre was ogray
It was “ogg-ree” for me.
Guile = Gooey Leh
I kept mispronouncing Red13 as Red7, but on hindsight, his real name is Nanaki, so I was close.
Couldn’t care less. I’ll just call the character what I always have.
You’re free to pronounce it however you want, but considering it’s named after a famous mythological character, you may get funny looks as if you referred to similar mythological characters as “Jod”, “Hey-zeus”, “Bud-hah”, or “Hurk-yoolz”.
