This is me in 2019 when I visited the ancient city of Hebron in Palestine. I’m on the rooftop of my AirBnB, smack in the center of the old town where the old market streets are. Behind me is a Israeli military base.

Normally I take the pictures, but this picture has been taken by one of the children I met there who were learning English, the boy on the right, he wanted to try out my professionally looking Nikon D600:

Even back then in the night I heard shots fired and soldiers running out of the base to somewhere. Later I saw on Instagram that the shots were rubber bullets shot on a journalist and he lost one of his eyes, here is a link to a new story about it: https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20191120-palestinian-journalist-loses-eye-after-being-shot-by-israel-sniper/

Before seeing the body of the post my first thought was (sadly) was, ‘there’s no way this is recent, I see a building standing in the background’

Doesn’t it all look like this anywhere that’s considered Palestinian territory? Honest question based on what I’ve seen, not trying to be a dick.

It depends on your question, yes it looks like that everywhere in Palestine, but also in Israel, for example in Betlehem or Nazareth. But you mentioned the building standing in the background. In Gaza most of the buildings are destroyed now I would assume. In the Westbank this is not the case.
