I was thinking this as well. If people won’t click past the headlines then we are truly doomed.
I do think news not being on social media might not be a bad thing. I guess we’ll have to see how it plays out.
Just checking out this Lemmy thing. Also, on Mastodon.

This is such a BS law. It should be framed as paying for headlines, not news.
I have no love for Meta but I have to side with them on this one. This law makes no sense. People post headlines on social media and users click on those to go to the news outlet and read the article. In the end, the news outlet still gets the advertising revenue and the visits to their site.
That is a good way to explain it. Well done.
Unsealed court documents last year revealed London police said they had reasonable grounds to accuse five world junior players of sexual assault.
I would love to know who these five players are. They need to be held accountable.
I read somewhere that the base game pass for console doesn’t include online multiplayer. That seems weird but might explain why the price is close to gold.
I see no problem with this.
Not yet. I have all of the altars in Fractured Peaks so far. Other than that I haven’t specifically been looking for them. I probably should be I suppose.
Absolutely. Most folks will never have to worry about it. I would bet those using period tracker apps didn’t think it was a big deal either.
As a middle aged white CIS male, I am sure I have nothing to worry about. However, people in marginalized communities can’t be so confident.
Protecting basic privacy isn’t that hard and should be of interest to everyone. Governments and big corps shouldn’t know everything about us.
Hello, I am a 49yo tech nerd Linux user on Mastodon. I am this stereotype.
Nobody cares what porn you are into. Probably.
However, women using period trackers were free to do so in the US up into recently. Now that data can be subpoenaed and used to help prosecute if it is believed she may have had an abortion.
You never know when information posted online, or collected otherwise, could be used against you. It’s best to seek privacy respecting options whenever possible.
I recently watched Twisted Metal and it was pretty darn good. Who doesn’t love cars with guns?
