Google Pixel@lemmy.world•Google Pixel (7a, 8 Pro and Fold) dominates MKBHD's blind camera testEnglish
6·2 年前I had the Pixel 5 with GOS, and the camera on that was awful, the google camera app did all the heavy lifting to make it good. I now have the Pixel 8 with GOS and the camera quality of the grapheme camera app vs the google camera is much closer, but the google camera app is better. I use it with all permissions removed apart from storage.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Likely to be the best £225 I've spent. Ultrawide is perfect for gaming, but 3:2 is the play for laptops.English
2·2 年前Depends on the model, this can be opened up and lightly serviced, the CPU and ram are all soldered, but it can be dismantled and the ssd and battery can be replaced.

31·2 年前I got this for image editing on the go, so Lightroom and Photoshop are a must.

3·2 年前This is the SL3. So I can upgrade the SSD and if I absolutely need to. The battery.

4·2 年前I’ve had my ultrawide for about 4 years and games that support it look amazing, not had an issue. Games that don’t. I just play in 16:9, the black bars arnt much of an issue given that its no real loss as the alternative is either a stretched out image or use a 16:9 monitor.

20·2 年前I didn’t notice any breakdown of the paste. It typically dries out over time once applied, this was still the same consistency throughout its life (in the tube)

3·2 年前Yep, I had the side panel off as I just replaced the thermal paste on the GPU and had to snap a pic.

2·2 年前I bought one for a new PC I was going to build, that didn’t happen so I installed it in my server, then I got this and the obvious choice was to pick up another.

Google Pixel@lemmy.world•Pixel 8 and 8 pro users - How has the experience been so far?English
5·2 年前Nope, I never use contactless payments, or even google wallet so I don’t even notice its gone.
I lost a couple of AI features, but I’m not that bothered about AI wallpaper generation, it was a bit of a gimmic anyway.
I had GrapheneOS on my Pixel 5 too and that saw a good battery life improvement once I finally installed GOS.

Google Pixel@lemmy.world•Pixel 8 and 8 pro users - How has the experience been so far?English
21·2 年前I have a Pixel 8 with GrapheneOS. No complains from me, battery lasts a couple of days. Phone does what it needs. Camera is amazing for a point and shoot.
Would recommend.

Mechanical Keyboards@lemmy.ml•Anyone got some recommendation for a keyboard for typing/gaming?English
1·2 年前Monsgeek M1 with Boba U4T switches, great for long typing sessions and for gaming. I have 45g springs as a lighter spring makes the bump more deifned.

1·2 年前You still have the benefit of Google not having unrestricted access to all corners of the device. You can still install google apps and then lock them down to only have access to what is required.

5·2 年前Sorry, I mean contactless payments
“You can use all the other features of Google Pay on GrapheneOS, just not NFC contactless card payments. It’s unlikely that will change. You can make NFC contactless card payments through your bank’s app, if they happen to provide their own implementation, as opposed to relying on Google Pay.”

No that’s the SL2, I’ve had this open to reapply the thermal paste its held down with 4 screws and magnets.
