  • “The government that you elect is the government you deserve.” — Thomas Jefferson

Yup. That’s actually why I’m almost relieved in a way. The last 4 years I spent A LOT of time on social media trying to combat misinformation by spreading factual data. It didn’t matter. Americans aren’t intersted in learning. Many aren’t even interested in doing their civic duty by voting. So now I’m hands off. I’m just here to watch the slow (or maybe fast) collapse. I honestly don’t believe there’s much to be done about it at this point.

The collected data over time is there. Freely available. It clearly shows us which choice was the more intelligent choice. And we ignored that and chose poorly at a vital point in American history, despite being given all the warning signs.

We are simply a society set up to fail.

  • Yup.

I’ve never met a conservative that argued in good faith, had actual solutions to problems, or had their priorities straight.

It’s all about hate and fear. All about making up imaginary scenarios to be mad about to justify persecuting others.

And now their dream team is in total control. There’s literally no future under these circumstances that ends well.

We’re in for a long period of decline and it’s going to be rough. Especially on the younger crowd. But hey, they helped give this election to Republicans, so now they get to reap what they sow.

  • It’s a week since election day.

You don’t understand. We ALREADY tried the Trump thing and it failed miserably. We aren’t even done living with the negative effects of that experience. We have one of the most poignant examples in history of what creeping fascism/authoritarianism can lead to. There are people still alive today that can tell us about it.

We don’t listen. We don’t learn.

This was the most blatant decision we’re ever likely to make as a society in our lifetimes so far.

We’re doubtful to ever experience a more black and white election than what we just experienced. And we still managed to fail.

  • The US isn’t standing in their way. Palestinians with RPG-7s are standing in their way.

If you think Palestine is going to survive for much longer, then you have an optimism I can only dream of. Even if Trump simply stands out of the way. Which is unlikely, because Donald Trump only helps those who can benefit him and Israel can benefit him. So expect more of our BOOM BOOMs to end up there in the near future.

    Palestine is done.

one by one the colonialist chickens was forced to come home to roost after the failure of white supremacism

Yes, and the last time they got REAL power it took millions of lives and an unquantifiable amount of money/resources to put them back down.

  • Dems had the presidency and Congress

When and for how long? Because they had a majority for a short time at the beginning of Biden’s presidency but two “Democrats” kept voting against Democrat legislation, destroying their very slight majority. One of them has since declared themselves independent and has been voted out of Congress.

you didn’t hear a single one of them talk about raising wages

Biden had to use exectutive order to raise the minimum wage of federal contractors, because he can do that without Congress, because they’re federal employees. Another Biden accomplishment that went right over your head. It’s also largely up to states to determine minimum wage. In California we just voted on raising the minimum wage higher than it already is, which I believe is $15, which is higher than a federal minimum wage increase would be anyways.

    addressing corporate corruption

Democrats introduced an anti-corruption bill in 2019. Again, when they actually held a majority for a short period in Biden’s presidency, those two pesky “Democrats” kept voting their legislation down. One of them was making big money from the oil industry. Again, it was a majority, but an ultra-slim majority. Can’t get much done with that.

You need to understand that your opinions are formed from a place of ignorance. You are commenting, and voting, from a standpoint of ignorance. Which is largely why you are a Green Party voter. A party that cannot, and will not, win an election, because they haven’t done the national canvassing necessary to build a coalition that can actually win federal elections.

  • pretending you’re better than everyone else is definitely a choice.

If you voted Democrat in this election, you are absolutely better than someone who voted for Republicans or the Green Party (a vote for Republicans). You are better ethically and economically. You’ll spend the next 4 years (or more) learning that the hard way.

Democrats used to be the party of the working poor but they’ve morphed into the party of ideological superiority.

If you bothered to pay attention to the legislation Democrats, to this day, still pass or attempt to pass, you’d know that they are still very much the party of the working poor.

It’s high time you sit down and review the voting history of the Democrat and Republican parties so you can actually educate yourself. And no, I don’t care about the Green Party because they are not, and will not be anytime in the foreseeable future, powerful enough to introduce, much less pass legislation.

  • There are people who specialize in getting people out of that kind of mindset your argument describes.

We have enough of those people to do this for the majority of Americans?

The rest of us need to do our part and educate

I love your optimism. But it just won’t work. We now know the majority of Americans are ignorant and uninterested in learning, even from mistakes. You can present these people with facts and stats and infallible logic all day long and it won’t make a difference.

We gleefully voted in a convicted felon and rapist who ALREADY had a failed presidency and openly talked about being anti-union and anti-worker rights who stated on national television that he had the concept of plans.

The only direction this society is going is down.
