Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube Premium is getting yet another price hike for users across the globeEnglish
9·2 days agoConsider these open-source front-ends:
No ads, no tracking, very customizable. You can import subscriptions, but signing in isn’t supported except in FreeTube Mobile. Also these apps sometimes don’t work for a few days whenever YT changes its back-end.

0·9 days agoThat’s why I love my Fairphone 4. Everything about it still works like back when I bought it 5 years ago, except for the replaceable battery. And it will still get security updates for a few more years

2·12 days agoYeah, that’s where I get about one third of my music. Another third is from Qobuz and the rest is converted from YT or somewhere else. Furthermore, I use MP3Tag and RSGain or Picard to organize the files and set replay gain tags so audio players can play the tracks with normalized volume.
Bad habits are usually caused by a larger underlying problem

15·13 days agoConsider buying and/downloading your favorite tracks to make an offline library. In my case it was totally worth the effort. I get to keep it forever, everything plays instantly and I need no subscription or internet connection. Also I can still pay to stream for a month from time to time.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI agents aren’t legally responsible for any harm that they cause, experts say. So who is?English
242·15 days agoI see a lot of oversimplifying analogies in the comments, but in my opinion none of them take into account that users of AI don’t know how it works or its risks, and some AI like Grok offers inherently problematic and potentially harmful/illegal functionality
