It really upsets me to see this, and points to the lack of funding for regulatory inspections. This should have been more heavily inspected, especially as they’ll provider kept failing centres.

In my nursery room I set out to outright ban high chairs and other restrictive devices from the space late last year, to know children were going hours in them when I wasn’t even comfortable with seeing them for a minute or two once they want out is horrific.

Oh this isn’t even school, this is kindegarten/preschool. It’s even more ridiculous and stressful. We operate 1:11 at present, 1:50 would kill the profession and many children.

It creates unfair education access. Why should only those who can afford to pay ridiculous fees get better quality? Education should not be pay-to-win.

Same goes for healthcare and any other basic essentials, we do not need a two tiered approach to equality.

Stop subsiding private businesses who rate hike each year yet pass none of it into the resources, building, children, or educators.

And finally pay educators better, you want high quality education? You’re not getting it when your educators rarely stay more than a year into the industry and lack all deep long term institutional knowledge.

Not to mention we’re deeply understaffed as is, and you want to put more children in when we cannot meet the demand already existing, and no a free fucking tafe course is not getting educators into the industry.

This is policy made by people who don’t step foot in the class and have zero idea of the industry.
