My dad had a small paperback of Bidstrup’s comics, I loved reading them! Especially since some of them were quite dirty 😆

Look, to live together we have to learn to compromise.
Here’s a list of your friends, cross the ones you like the least.
The problem since has been solved, I was replying to your initial position of it never bothering normal people, which is incorrect
“there you go” as in “thank you for explaining why a forced unexpected update from your os in the middle of your work could bother you”?
you’re welcome
I just don’t trust major updates not to break something (with good reasons). I have to have a working pc, so I update when I have half an hour of free time to install and roll back if need be.
But if you’re a normal person who shuts down their PC on a regular basis, the updates literally *never* bother you
That’s just not true. I never had a habit of having my pc run 24/7, and windows updates bothered me immensely since win 7
hmm, how can we monetize this
Maxxie@piefed.blahaj.zoneto Memes@sopuli.xyz•Halloween is coming up, folks. So here's your third idea for a costumeEnglish4·21 days agolike I agree about Disney (the company and the man) but can we let people have harmless fun without tracing everything to a corrupt moneyed interest that inevitably has a stake on every single thing in this mortal coil?
They’re not advancing the cause of Disney by dressing as the ratatouille guy, in fact I can negate 10 ratatouille cosplayers just be posting this very nsfw rule34 of the same character, rat included.
(I am also saying it to myself as a person who regularly does this. Being annoying lefty pointdexter, not the disney porn. sometimes disney porn)
I support their journey into systemhood 😌
plot twist: its the same person
I used to run wsl for dev work (before admin let me switch OS), debugging environment issues was such a pain
Maxxie@piefed.blahaj.zoneto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•*Permanently Deleted*English13·2 months agoIt would upset me, but holy crap what a topic for the first half an hour of the date. Will get you right through the awkward phase!
“So, wild story, my dad set this date. Can you believe this crap? I have no idea what he put in my profile, hopefully nothing too cringe… He wrote I love trains??? FFS you make ONE model train when you’re 12, and you’re a ‘train girl’ forever. Honestly I almost no-show, but you didn’t deserve being stood up… Anyway, wanna vent about stupid shit your parents did?”

Maxxie@piefed.blahaj.zoneto Technology@lemmy.world•UK households could face VPN 'ban' after use skyrockets following Online Safety BillEnglish341·3 months agoIt’s something russia has been doing for a decade and got pretty good at.
A long term blanket vpn ban is not compatible with a modern digital infrastructure, but with certain protocols (openvpn, wireguard) they can detect their usage and filter them out when necessary.
It does require a lot of expensive DPI (deep packet inspection) hardware I’m not sure UK has, so building a Great Firewall of Britain (Hadrian’s Firewall?) will take some time.
The one I read was a collection of silly sketches and some light leftist social critique, but he was Danish communist iirc and worked with the soviets a lot, so I’m not surprised he drew propaganda too
