I’ve often wondered if there is more to it that is classified or whatever. Albo was not a fan of it, then got a briefing and very quickly signed onto it without any public or even party debate. That stood out to me at the time, and has everytime it comes up since.

I had a huge house party back in the late 90s when at uni. Filled the bathtub with ice, bought 4 cases of the cheapest beer I could get to make sure people didn’t go without even though it was byo. Party was huge. Band in backyard, cops coming, fence pailing going in the fire huge. About 3am we ran out of beer and so it wound down and everyone crashed out or went home.

Got up in the morning and there was at least two cases worth of this beer still in the tub. Went out back to pick up all the empties and almost every opened can of this beer was still almost full but had been abandoned.

This beer was so utterly bad that a bunch of rowdy drunk brike uni students wouldn’t even drink it!

That beer was Tasman Bitter.

The coalition literally does this every election. “Trust us, we’re better economic managers” is all they say. No specifics, then when they win they gut services used by people they don’t like, aka health, education and welfare services.

Never forget the 2014 liberal budget.

As someone who grew up in NSW and moved to Vic after driving for a decade, I can say that in my experience a lot of people in NSW consistently drive at 15- 20 over on the freeway (especially Pacific hwy to Newcastle) and consistently 10 over on other roads. During double demerits they drop down in speed a bit.

In Victoria people seem to not drive at the same amount over the speed limit. More like 10 over on freeways and 5-10 over on other roads.

I always thought this was to a difference in policing. In NSW I never heard of anyone being booked for less than 10km over. In Victoria I have heard of people being done for as little as 4km over, and when I first moved here I got done for doing 6km over in an 80 zone (old habits died that day).

An additional observation, post COVID it feels like Victorians are driving faster, not to the same level as NSW but headed towards it.

Worse than that, it’s an intentional miss direction so that their billionaire benefactors can continue to squeeze the fossil fuel sponge well into the future. They want to get every last almost free drop out of our resources.

That would be amazing, but unfortunately not the case in many places, including Australia where instead a bike rider that gets hit by a car gets told that it is too difficult to prove blame on the driver, even when there is clear video evidence and third part witness statements saying the the driver intentionally rammed the rider.

You know, I’d tend to agree with you on that, but recently I’ve come to see that the vast majority of people just take what they hear as fact and don’t really think to much about it.

What that means is that if you have billions of dollars of capital at your disposal and tens or more of billions of dollars of future earnings at stake it’s pretty cost effective to manipulate those people who I mentioned in the first paragraph of my post.

Depressing, but unfortunately true as best I can tell

I lived in NZ for a while, it was heaps better over there you don’t need to do anything, they just send you a refund or bill, then if you have any other deductions you can claim those. Great for forgetful/lazy people like me.

Can I do that through ATO or do I need an agent?

This sounds absolutely insane! Surely it must be trivial to prove that she had no part in anything. Corporations shouldn’t be able to reach down into peoples lives in this way (she is in a different country and was not represented). what can be done to raise awareness and try to help get the attention of the relevant Minister to advocate to the USA Govt to have this sorted out? This women must be beside herself.

Was there no requirements for the essays to be factual? I honestly can’t understand how or why blatenet and provable falsehoods were aloud to be in this important document?

I didn’t realise these kind of culture war astroturfing regressive religious groups were this active in Australia. I hope there is something we can do at a societal level to prevent this escalating.

I’m happy for people to have their beliefs but these things all feel like they are being done cynically by dark forces that want to change the fabric of our society - Or maybe I am off with the fairies, I don’t know sometimes.

Am I alone in thinking that? What can we do about it?
