PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Marathon released on Steam [Very Positive review] [kernel anticheat] [SteamDeck unsupported]English
1·6 天前What genre should a new game in a trilogy of story-driven, dark sci-fi, single-player games be? Live service slop, of course.
As far as I know, technically speaking, Snap, the application side, is fully foss, but not the server side, meaning you can only install Snap packs integrated into the system from Canonical directly. And this is a big pain point for most.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Linux gamers: Do you ever occasionally shut down your PC?English
14·14 天前If you mean by “should”, because you fear losing performance, like Windows, then no. But I also see no point in keeping it on 24/7. When I’m done with my computer, I just turn it off. If I want to play a video game, the absolute maximum amount of time it takes for me is 120 seconds until I’m in a game from cold start. Constantly feeding my power-hungry monster just isn’t worth it.

Linux@lemmy.ml•HelixNotes - a local-first markdown note-taking app (Rust + Tauri, AGPL-3.0)
1·27 天前Yeah, but in Joplin you can hit export and then it exports your note hierarchy as folders and markdown files.

No anticipation for me. I only buy games when they’re minus 50% on Steam because that’s the point when the full price beta testers are done with QA.

12·1 个月前Epic decided to enter the market by bringing the trash console exclusivity model to PC. Furthermore, they stated they will never support GNU/Linux. I will never touch this rubbish.

2·1 个月前As it’s in development hell, I certainly do believe that it’s not affected and it stays right firmly there.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 left a gaping, $28 million hole in Paradox's year-end financial reportEnglish
1·1 个月前Me too. Sadly, I don’t think Microsoft/Bethesda care enough. Remember, they killed prey because it was profitable, but it didn’t make all of the money in the world like FIFA.
Yeah, but that’s kind of Windows’s fault too, because the Windows system progressively gets slower with every update, the only remedy being completely reinstalling a clean system or better hardware. Planned obsolescence at its finest.
Same here, I’m waiting for DDR6 in 2028. Great CPU, at that date, it will be 10 years old.
IMHO: upgrading every 10 years is fine, both for money and performance.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•CODE VEIN II released on Steam [70$/€] [Denuvo DRM] [SteamDeck Unsupported] [Mixed Review]English
6·1 个月前Because the steam native DRM isn’t enough. They just need to ensure the worst possible experience for the legitimate customers. God forbid a modern game runs good, or at all, in the case of GNU/Linux.

2·1 个月前Gameplay-wise, I agree. Don’t know why, but the story didn’t grip me just like it did in the first one. Dishonoured was killed off for the shit that was Redfall, which will make me sad forever. :(

With use case IMO, you’ll lose absolutely nothing. Literally any game ever now runs on Proton and Wine.
