In your mind, what classifies as an assassinatiom attempt? What are the criteria that needs to be accounted for to consider something g an assassination attempt?

Terrorism is actually a pretty simple but specific definition. Terrorists use unlawful violence and threats of violence to influence the government or an international governmental organisation, or to intimidate the public. They do this in pursuit of a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.
It doesn’t take much money or many resources to engage in violence or even make threats. Certainly having money and resources at your disposal make you more effective but it’s a rather low but still specific bar to cross to be considered a terrorist.
If you’re not going to take the effort type “can a government use patents” into Google and look at the top link. It took me less than a minute to find that government using a patent is just baked into the patent system. There’s not additional law around it. So it might be better to go the WD 40 route and never actually file a patent to the formula to avoid sharing the formula publicly.
That’s… not how eminent domain works…? Like it’s scope only applied to stuff like building sidewalks, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.
Because it’s a lot easier for Disney to churn out mickey mouse cartoons than it is for General Electric to come up with an entirely new rotating joint for the helicopter mounted motorized minigun
Personally I originally went to Discord because it was the alternative to skype which was increasingly becoming shittier and shittier when Microsoft bought it.
I’m not trying to insinuate anything about vance or insult him or anyone else.
Oh I definitely am. He’s a grown adult and a politician, he absolutely should have the media training to answer a simple question like “Why would a Wisconsinite have a beer with you?”
The easy homerun answer is “Oh there’s a lot of great breweries here in the state! A lot of great choices while having some squeaky cheese curds.” Seriously in 1 sentences I just called out 2 major industries within the state that they’re well known for across the nation, beer brewing and the dairy/cheesemaking industry. Like it’s so braindead easy to do.
Granted, most likely, you don’t have media training. He does, or ar least should have media training and be able to give a cogent answer in front of a camera.
Well… were not on the other side of this yet. Were still in the sort of early 1930s Germany era where the real problems people face haven’t gotten all that much better, and the fascists have made many decently successful smaller attempts at power but haven’t quite succeeded in that big push for power. like the stuff that is planned in project 2025.
I don’t think fascism is capable of producing competent longterm leadership. Like the ideology preselects for loyalty above all, it’s rabidly anti-intellectual and scorns anyone perceived as being an intellectual elitist. It’s purely emotion driven and requires ever escalating emotional rhetoric to keep the based angry at external all-powerfully weak enemies (lazy mexicans stealing your jobs, sneaky jewish bankers crashed the entire economy, thuggish high school dropout gangbangers in the inner city are criminal masterminds responsible for all the drugs flowing through rural communities who would overrun everything if they were smart enough to unify, take your pick of contradictory scapegoat.)
That’s not to say incompetence means harmlessness, there’s a lot of blood that has been spilled throughout history due to incompetence.
Thanks! I still def recommend checking out the video. It’s a really fascinating topic.
Sort of, basically because mercury has the small orbit it spends the most time closer on average to any other planet. The CGP Grey video someone else posted is a really good explanation as to what’s going on.
Delaware checking I’m we basically had the TI 83 or TI-84
I see, so the angle you’re going for is that basically hiring practices don’t prioritize the skills needed for backend and think frontend devs can handle full stack. Even then the front-end teams do know that the backend stuff is important even if they don’t have a full understanding of the scope of complexity that goes into the nitty gritty of backend dev.
I mean, you’re not wrong but I’m not sure what you’re trying to get at. Yeah front end and backend development are very different skillets, but my point is the people working and coding and making the game generally do actually know what they’re doing, but its middle managers are given orders from on high by execs, most of whom probably haven’t touched a video game ever in their lives, keeping the board of directors happy with quarterly profit increases.
I wasn’t talking about the horizontal divide between front end and back end devs, but the vertical divide between management/executives and the devs and techs.
You’re a little confused but you got the right spirit, this is surplus value extraction. Wage theft is simply a company refusing to pay contractually agreed upon wages for performed labor.
I agree with the message but we have to use our words carefully and correctly, so that definitions of these don’t become exceedingly broad and useless.
Its probably just… a distributed amount of viewers requesting more bandwidth than they expected/knew how to serve.
So a Group Hug of Death.
I mean, the devs and server techs know what’s going on, its the execs and middle managers that need to get a live service on a shoestring budged to make the shareholders happy that you made them 25% more profit than last quarter.
For me, even just making the switch from Reddit to Lemmy has done quite a lot for mental health and really helped reshape my social media diet into something much better.
On Lemmy I encounter a lot fewer true assholes on the platform (theres still snark and sarcasm and inside jokes, but I liked that aspect of reddit), it’s a lot slower of stream of content, the posts take longer to change so I don’t get stuck in an infinite scroll of perpetually new content, and I’ve rebalanced where I’m spending my time online, more informational and wholesome side of youtube and a discord community that I found that I really like.
But yeah even taking a break from these every so often is still a good idea.
Yup the flour is very likely to contain e coli. The eggs are still a risk with salmonella but the e coli is a much greater and more potent risk
