I was more interpreting the community name as deshittifying your own personal experience with different technologies that are FOSS or at the very least open source. Would be a good place to post when companies are forced to (or even choose) to do something that is significantly more consumer friendly.

I did some vague streaming stuff for some friends and really enjoyed playing around with OBS to get some overlays and stuff. As long as you’re getting into it cause you find it fun, I see no reason to not try it. Just keep in mind you’ll probably not make it big and this will remain what it starts as: a hobby. Don’t let others deter you from trying atuff out. Even If it’s not your thing you learned some skills and what you like/don’t like.

I’m sorry to say this, but switching distros would be the better option. Bazzite locks down a lot of parts to ensure it works for games. There’s ways around it, but the effort is so much more compared to any other popular distro. Plenty of distros either come with KDE or have a version that has KDE.

In terms of immutability, Bazzite by design makes it very difficult to install things that aren’t in the app store/flatpal/homebrew. It is an OS dedicated to gaming, and tries to make it as hard as possible to mess that up. I’ve ran into similar issues when I try to do some non-gaming things, or more advanced gaming things on it (like installing a fan patch). It’s not a good OS choice if you want to do more than game and surf the web.

I’ve heard anecdotal evidence that the anti-malaria medication the US military uses that cause people to have recurring nightmares. If you’re taking a medicine that is supposed to effect the brain I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t effect your dreams.

Yeah it’s a mix of “fair enough” , and “are you really monitoring votes close enough to even find me?”. If I went out of my way to downvote everything then I would say the ban is 100% justified. Well it does depend on your exact use case, but using a proper database is usually the better option for production. Now if this is just some little service you made for yourself use whatever you want.

What distro of Linux did you install on the laptop? I’ve had no luck getting wine to work on Fedora, but my desktop is running Bazzite which is based on the steam deck OS and I’m games run great (sometimes with tweaking required).

In all seriousness, you may want to look into a dual boot situation where you have Windows in a partition just big enough to do all the work you need to do. You could also look at VMs, but I’m not sure how well they would play with something that is resource hungry like Adobe products.
