Try to pivot to contract/consulting IT work, it’s more of a PITA because you have to take care of things like health insurance on your own, but it might be a tad easier to pick up work that way since companies are always more willing to drop a grand or 2 here and there over hiring someone that needs commitment, benefits, support, training etc.
7·2 hours agoWell at least it’s “just” software issues, software can always be fixed, but hardware issues are usually only fixable by needing to buy a new version lol

Why am I cross-posting .ml?
I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don’t want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms.

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can’t even put them all here because this comment would be really long.
I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda
On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like “Lemmy? Isn’t that the place with a bunch of tankies?” Or “Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left”. The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.
Ok, but when do I start a worldwide scandal that dominates the news cycle for 24 hours?

It’s beginner level, the hard part is the reverse proxy, once you have a grasp on that just having it on a dedicated box in a segmented portion on your firewall designated as the DMZ is easy. Id even go so far as to say its the bare minimum if you’re even considering exposing to the internet.
It doesn’t even need to be all that powerful since its just relaying packets as a middleman
Also run the reverse proxy on a dedicated box for it in the DMZ
This must be out of date, there’s no big back or turning Ohio or anything. Not even a “ACkShuLly it’s GNU…”

Yes, but now there’s been a study(s) done, and more studies to backup (or disprove!) is always good, even if the subject “is a given”
Interesting, I actually just adjust the volume knob on my desktop speakers so I didn’t think of this when I wrote the meme.
But now I kinda wanna see if I can hijack this monitoring it does and fake 100% volume to the application at all times…hmm welp to the mile long project list it goes!
