I really have only ever used either of them as a DLNA server, but I was recently forced into Jellyfin and find that I like it much better than Plex. It’s faster and more reliable on my system, and for my stripped-down needs, it’s a perfect fit. I’d say that if Jellyfin is doing the job you need, you’ve got absolutely no reason to switch.

In the US, at least, you have a significant portion of the population with a puritanical bent. To top it off, they’re extremely vocal, political, and organized.

Right or wrong, advertisers are terrified of angering these people.

I’m completely addicted (I’m in season 90 or so); it’s my go-to when I’ve just got a few minutes for a game. I think it’s one of the best games on mobile.
