Bees and butterflies don’t pollinate all by themselves, FYI. Things that bite/sting also do a lot of pollination work! Flies, wasps, etc

I totally understand that! I have pretty small hands, so it doesn’t frustrate me as much as maybe someone with bigger fingers. Cross stitching is super fun, definitely! I’ve got a whole set-up up in the ol’ hobby graveyard closet lol
Picross here, though Sudoku makes its rounds
For me it’s gotta be a documentary that’s interesting but not toooooo interesting, you know? Something with a bit of intrigue to get my attention while I’m watching it, but my interest isn’t high enough to keep me awake watching it.
Ancient history, history of languages, paleontology, true crime, fromsoftware lore videos, that kind of stuff will do it. Or, randomly, TomatoGaming vod streams will do it? He’s not soothing at all, but it conks me right out, I don’t get it.

8·5 months agoWas this the fish passing after a few minutes, hours, days? If you remember at all. Was there any controlling for gill damage during the catch? I know some idiots who will hold them up by the gills for pictures, I wonder if that causes damage? Or just dying from shock? I wonder if I can find the study

5·6 months agoDidn’t the original GTA/RDR writers leave after finishing RDR2 anyway? Another worry I have is that this game will have none of the story/writing that made the previous games great, and is just a Rock star cash grab because they own the IP.

2·7 months agoI got a kobo recently and like it a lot. I got the sage because the screen is about the size of a manga page, which I knew I would be reading a lot of. I keep it in airplane mode most of the time and use Calibre to load it up. The system works well for me

science@lemmy.world•Chewing gum can shed microplastics into saliva, pilot study findsEnglish
2·8 months agoBecause that’s what tires are made out of, and they wear away as you drive (that’s why you need to replace tires every so often as the treads wear away). That material doesn’t just disappear, it gets ground down and dispersed into the environment as they’re used.
It’s one reason why electric cars aren’t a great solution for anyone but car manufacturers—the tires. They’ll cut down on fossil fuel use and fuel emissions, yes, but that’s not the only way cars pollute.
EDIT: Also, thank you for asking! Always happy to explain :)

15·8 months agoCurrent advice is actually to not rinse after brushing, as you’re meant to let the fluoride of the toothpaste sit against your teeth for thirty minutes.
Unfortunately, I would recommend not losing sleep over either source of microplastics (chewing gum or toothbrushes), until tires and synthetic clothing are done away with by society. Those are much MUCH bigger, inescapable sources of microplastics

Honestly, say something useful or keep it to yourself, OK? These lil ‘gotcha’ comments do nothing but take up space and make you feel a misplaced sense of having done something (when you’ve in fact, done nothing).
Stuff like this comment, the mango Mussolini comments, the evil Cheeto comments, it all just fucking does nothing while still making people feel like they’re being transgressive. You’re not. It diverts energy from doing/talking about stuff that affects real change.

Without mosquitoes many birds and bats (also both great pollinators) would die out :(
