I like Bluetooth quite a lot, but the default SBC codec that comes with A2DP isn’t all that great. Even FLAK gets recompressed in an obscure format at medium bitrate.
HD “standards” like… AptX(?) aren’t really a Bluetooth standard AFAIK but it runs over Bluetooth so if both devices support it, it works great.
Fun fact, them HD standards are so software based that I got support for three different HD standards when I changed OS.

You’re talking about the “limit” setting on Mastodon. That setting can be toggled for any instance, be it threads or exploding-heads. This setting is not present on Lemmy.
Both threads and exploding-heads could be treated the same on Mastodon and would be treated the same on Lemmy.
I know exactly what you mean. People talk about how “anything can be scraped anyway” and don’t understand how instances can lock down public timelines, enable whitelist federation and require authorized fetch for federating - at least on the actor-based fedi platforms like Mastodon.

It’s going for actor-based federation. It’s perfectly possible to create a watertight federated network excluding both federation and scraping from Threads/Meta on Mastodon using authorized fetch and whitelisting.

If everybody decided to ditch gmail and never email someone using that hose, email would without a doubt become much better overnight. It would be feasible for me to host my own e-mail server again.
