Oof, against the grain. Pine fresh after though.

Technology@lemmy.world•Epstein Files: X Users Are Asking Grok to 'Unblur' Photos of ChildrenEnglish
511·4 天前The black boxes would be impossible, but there are some types of blur that keep enough of the original data they can be undone. There was a pedofile that used a swirl to cover his face in pictures and investigators were able to unswirl the images and identify him.
With how the rest of it has gone it wouldn’t surprise me if someone was incompetent enough to use a reversible one, although I have doubts Grok would do it properly.
Edit: this technique only works for video, but maybe if there are several pictures of the same person all blurred it could be used there too?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•TV remotes should have an easy-to-find (by touch) "volume toggle" button that toggles between two volume settings.
1·4 天前In the post I mean in addition to the usual volume function. You could adjust the volume like normal in each volume toggle, there’d just be a button to swap between them. The point is you wouldn’t need to gradually change the volume if you set them at two different points and could just jump from your “loud” setting to your “quiet” one if you wanted.

3·4 天前Wait, the recall button isn’t a thing anymore? Guess I never noticed because I don’t have cable
I see a PTA meeting with cucumbers instead of parents.
I thought these were images communicated by the group we see standing there as their answers and was trying to decipher the visual puns

Uhh, that’s either a really low belly button or exceptionally high clitoris.
Also Punxsutawney Phil is the name of the famous groundhog as part of the tradition.
Man I hate how AI and non-serif fonts have ruined my reading of so many things.
I love those crunchy cereal marshmallows! I’ve bought them (just the marshmallows) online a few times. It’s been years, so probably time for a treat.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•99% of the time when I get exposed to content that sucks, it's because of other people creating content about the content they also think sucks.
5·16 天前One of my favourite types of media is the brutal and methodical dissection of a bad piece of art. I’ve probably happily spent several hours watching the ATLA movie get ripped apart and haven’t even seen the movie.
Oh, guess those people (again, totally not me) were over-thinking it due to the political references. I’m sure they appreciate the explanation.
Can you explain the joke for those who don’t get it (not me, I totally get it and think it’s very funny)
My only complaint is it kind dilutes the term “pedofile” in a way that sort of shelters the real pedofiles by being grouped in with people who are still pretty bad, but way better than them. Not really a battle worth fighting though as you say.
Changed to cheaper ingredients in some cases, different sweeteners, and whole grain flour in other cases. The recipes just aren’t as tasty.

Agree with you there. Just pointing out that in theory and with the right technique, some blurring methods can be undone. Grok most certainly is the wrong tool for the job.
