Heyyyy! Popping in from a Texas area that finally got some god damn rain to say, I’m so happy you got rain, too!!
It’s glorious, isn’t it?!

Go on, do it, the theory ones anyway. Fuck Russia, fuck China, skip the propaganda for those two.
Learning something new can’t hurt you, though 😉
I just came home from work and my older dog PROMISES my husband forgot to feed him (husband is asleep so I can’t ask)
He’s a lucky boy, he almost never lies and my husband is known to be forgetful 😂 plus even I’d rather accidentally give him bonus dinner than send the old man off to bed hungry.
Wait what happened with Meghan Markle? Something recent?
100%, this looks unnervingly like Lindsay Lohan a decade or so ago… Wait, what does this say about poor Lindsay what she’s gonna look like at 80?
Gilmore Girls and KOTOR… Maybe Rory is Darth Revan, with Paris as Bastila. … I can see it.
I do not get how you’re so confused.
It’s not that he was “entitled” to money, it’s that money would have made taking his handle less of a dick move. Elon is a multi billionaire, he could have thrown a tens of thousands of dollars at this dude and had a good PR situation for his generosity, and not even noticed the dip in his bank account. Instead the story is that he’s an asshole who treats his users like shit if they have something he wants.
So here we are, calling him an asshole. How is that confusing?
As do pizza joint employees.
Some of us will never be able to forget…
I love how these donuts are so comfy that they can be used casually for over-itching/licking. I’d feel so cruel putting a regular cone on my dog just for over-licking. But the donut, while it annoys him, isn’t so traumatic, or feel like as much of a punishment. Plus they can sleep with them on! Making them sleep in a cone is damn near heartbreaking.
Whoever invented these donuts is a genius.
If you haven’t already I recommend you go ahead and get her a donut. We got a donut for the dogs when our second one got neutered, and one for the cat. The cat ended up with an abscess in his jaw a couple years later, and I was very grateful to have a soft thing to protect that area with from the very beginning.
The one for the dogs has also been used again twice, for hot spots, and it was nice to already have it on hand. You never know when these lovable dumbasses are gonna get hurt, is all I’m saying.
I know the toilet paper wars were bad, but you think it’ll come to the point of needing shields??
… right. Because republicans control Texas and the grid. A grid that already killed people a couple years ago. A grid that people aren’t convinced the republican leadership has fixed. A grid that’s being heavily used under this heatwave. That just makes sense to me.
What else would you expect in the comments? I expect talk about climate change, the grid, and how republicans have fucked up both of those things. I don’t expect people to be saying, “Sure is a scorcher today!”, Or casual chats about lemonade recipes. Those days are gone.
🤷🏼♀️ He hurts the right people, I guess.
And too many people who would vote against the current leadership don’t vote at all. It’s been really frustrating trying to convince some of my friends to vote. Even some LGBTQ+ friends of mine don’t vote. I guess they think it doesn’t matter, that better candidates won’t win anyway. Voter apathy is a bitch, man.
Texans are worried because of the previous track record: The winter storm that froze people to death because the supply couldn’t keep up with demand. Our grid was incredibly close to a whole shit down, which would have killed even more people. All of which happened because the people in charge of such things didn’t prepare for a winter storm like that despite being warned that it was necessary like a decade ago.
And heat is no joke. So yeah, we worry. We have kids, elderly family and friends, pets, and healthy adults are also not immune. When demand skyrockets we get worried because people have already died and we don’t want to see that happen again. We’re also very aware of how often we’re told things are “fixed” when nothing has actually been done. So we cross our fingers, and we sweat, and we hope the grid doesn’t shut down and kill us. Sorry our worrying and upvoting of the topic bothers you.
There are lots of hobby communities, art, music, games, mechanical keyboards, fancy pens, gardening, birding, I could go on…
I find new hobby communities often on All. There’s also a community for announcing new communities, that might help you round out your interests.
If you go on the Lemmy website you can browse a never ending list of communities (some apps may also have this? Idk). And more are added every day. Lemmy is still young and growing. Have patience. Or don’t, I’m not the boss of you.
If you told me that was a picture of Zuck’s grandpa I’d believe you.
I thought they were talking to a taller, pants and snowhat wearing version of themselves and I was so confused…

Man that looks so much like my missing black cat… if you happen to live in Texas let me know. Just in case.
I was off Facebook for years, and was never a heavy user, but I had to get back on because the school my daughter goes to sends out so many notifications that way.
Facebook is very ingrained in how business and groups interact these days, what’s an individual to do? Disconnect from the world and miss important school notifications, among other things?
Plus the “stealing” isn’t just from people using the platform, it’s also in wages and benefits for employees. Why aren’t they getting a bigger share of those profits they worked to produce?
