We are continuing the celebration of women by playing female singers. The man was busy at work today…making a Spotify list. He told me “it’s not International women’s day without Samantha Fox. Every boy his age had a poster of her on their wall”.

We’ve moved on now. J5 and DMB Work It Out just played.

How it works is this: man makes list. I suggest songs. He queues them. I’m forbidden from touching list because I can destroy. I have literally made lists disappear too many times.

I have random tomato plants growing in the garden. Can only assume it’s grown out of wombat poop, as that’s his poop spot. I haven’t planted any tomato’s in the last 2 years….especially not in that spot.

I didn’t tell you all my embarrassing story from Wednesday night but now I’m gonna.

The short version: I fully stacked a rental scooter and it was not elegant.

So I was riding home from dinner Wednesday night when I got to Harbour Esplanade. There was a large group of people blocking the entire path obliviously just messing around so I attempted to go around them on the left. This was at the pedestrian crossing which goes across the road/tram lines and is the entrance to a tram stop.

It turned out that between the tram lines wasn’t concrete like on the pedestrian crossing but a drop off and rocks, which I hit hard and went over the handlebars and landed on my right side. I landed on the helmet which was hanging from the scooter (I don’t wear them…) and completely destroyed it. A few people asked if I was alright. I was in pain but more embarrassed so I just said I was fine and got myself up and dusted myself off. Managed to not break my phone (left pocket) or my sunglasses (hanging from the neck of my tshirt) which was a plus but I got a decent boo-boo on my elbow, which later also developed an egg-sized egg that evening. Also got a nice bruise on my right knee, a couple of bruises on my back and somehow one on my left inner thigh (maybe landing on the helmet). The worst of it though was that I stupidly braced my fall with my right hand out, which really hurt my thumb where it meets my palm. I wasn’t sure if I’d broken anything in it or my wrist but it was agony to touch. Moving it hurt but I had full range of movement and no crunchy sounds so I figure it’s just bruised and I’ve been resting it since and it does seem to slowly be getting less painful.

Today the pain in my back is the worst it has been though. I’m ok getting around but twisting and bending is no bueno.

Anywho… that’s what happened. It has been quite some time since I’ve fallen over. It’s definitely not as fun as I remember it being.

My own body hurt reading that. Glad you didn’t get too rekt but I also agree with everyone else saying that you should just get things checked to be safe. Not allowing your back to heal properly after an injury could have awful consequences down the track

I hope you’re gonna be ok.

I too had an unfortunate stupid incident years ago. Coburg Lake. Large slide. People piss down slides so I decided to go down in the squat position. Half way down, feet stopped, body kept travelling into the invisible mosh pit at the bottom. I did hurt myself. I miraculously did not break bones.

Ouch sounds like quite a stack.

I’d probably consider hitting up a doc by the sounds of it.

It’s funny with stacks. Take a few days to really feel it :(

      Hope it eases up quickly.

Seconding a suggestion to visit the hospital. Worst/best case is they xray an confirm that you aren’t broken. It is quite possible you have a fracture in your hand. If so, you really ought to have it treated.

Glad you made it out of that but I think you should also get checked out to make sure you haven’t broken anything, at best it’ll be a few strainsstrain but you’ll want to get it treated and checked out.

My most undignified stack involves getting up to go to the loo in the middle of the night and slipping over in cat sick. One knee and two ankles demolished. I don’t wear PJs, figure the rest out…

Do you ever nick out to get your shopping done only to end up too overwhelmed so you ignore the fresh food and just microwave yourself some preheated cheese on a wrap for lunch?

    Because I do. And did.

Yes I do this all the time. I need to go at better times because I have a real issue with slow walkers and people that just stand in the middle of the aisle. It angries up my blood lol

Haha. I went to my not usual supermarket to stock up on the weekend. Got overwhelmed. Ended up with 3 different deli meats, a loaf of bread and yogurt. Thank goodness I have 20 cans of tuna in the cupboard.

Haha awesome…yeah I was not prepared but a friend offered a lift so I grabbed it so I don’t have to traipse around in the heat. Bad idea.

But I am now full of cheese

I have insertional achilles tendonitis and as part of my rehab, I’ve had to strengthen calf muscles. Been doing a shit load of calf exercises over the last two months. Seeing my calf muscles have new babies is so satisfying 🫠🫠

      many gentle hugs

I had tendonitis , or more exactly inflammation of the sheath of the tendon, of the fibularis tendon. I was plastered up to my knee for 8 weeks.

first week I couldn’t walk, felt like fire the second week

      it got better

There’s a tendon rehab exercise I should explain when I’m sober. Else Ebonie Rio is the melbourne researcher, 45s on, 120s off, x3, progressive load/7. I’ll be back, prolly tomorrow or this eve after a disko kip.

I’m not aware of this one but here are some of my exercises:

        • progressive overloading of single leg calf raises (30s, 1 min, 2 mins etc) currently can do about 1 min holding 16-18kgs
        • isometric and eccentric variations of calf raises
        • plyometrics i.e. single leg hops, jumping etc

Sober now, All those exercises sound like they’ll help. The tendon healing protocol I mentioned above is supported by research to help repair tendons and musculo-tendinous junction. Tendons have poor blood supply so take a long time to heal. So for the exercise here are the points: 45s on / 120s off, use a timer. Three sets of that. Twice a day. Choose an exercise that loads the tendon and has progressive (harder) options. With each set, progress the load a to the next level. For calves / achillies, you can on the edge of a step with your heel in free air. heel below the step level would be initial/easy, foot flat would be middle, slight tippy-toes would be hard mode. Maybe this is all covered with what you’re already doing.

I’ve decided to keep my privacy. If the ABC isn’t interested without identifying me, then so be it.

I did my best and now it’s up to the editors.

Once it’s online, it’s there forever.

We’ll see how it plays out.

Put water out for wildlife the day before preparing for hot weather… realise I’ve left the back door cracked all day. Derp.

(I lock the screen door but often leave the wooden one slightly open for a bit of fresh air to circulate.)
