It’s night, and you’ve just peed in the toilet, but there’s a problem, the toilet cistern is not full, and it’s too late to wait, what are you going to do and for what reasons?

  • Wait until tomorrow for the cistern to fill so you can get rid of the urine.

  • Pour water from the cistern, even knowing that it is not enough to get rid of urine.

You can take a pot of water from the kitchen and pour it into the toilet. Same principle. Also why is the toilet paper flat?

Why is the toilet cistern not filling? Is 3 AM a high traffic period for your home toilet?

    Depends on your flush mechanism.

If you have an Australia/NZ system just pour a jug of water into the bowl and it will flush out the pee.

If you have a US/Canada system, repent.

Ok, but siphonic systems still flush just fine if you pour water into them…? I’ve been doing it my whole life. Like even if you just pour water from a pitcher at a normal rate it’ll eventually hit a pressure point and flush itself (assuming there’s no clog). If you do it from more than a foot above the bowl it flushes basically instantly.

An instant flush is what OP wants. If they can do that with the siphonic system, that’s great.

I am going to see if I can fix it because I am already up and I will just have to deal with it until I fix it.

If I can’t fix it in 2 minutes I will grab a bucket of water and pour it in the bowl to flush it.

Lift up the lid on the tank. Push down the float. If it still won’t fill, fill the tank with water from the sink or shower, then flush normally.

          Why would I?

To keep your toilet cleaner and your bathroom smelling fresher. And to reduce splashback of urine when sitting.

The first two points aren’t really worth the wasted water because if you drink enough water your urine shouldn’t smell that strong.

And I’m not sure why urine would splash on me when I’m sitting? I always sit, and afaik I’ve never gotten urine on me lol like what

This may blow your mind, but it’s also possible to flush before shitting if this is a real concern. You’ll still save a lot more water than you would by flushing urine every single time.

I don’t really care what you do, though. I just don’t think there’s any real reason to be so extravagantly wasteful when your watered-down urine in the toilet doesn’t even create a smell.

Then you’re doubling your flushes for your poops. I’m sure there’s some formula for this that could be worked out, lol

Reason number 3 is that something dropped in the toilet is less unpleasant to retrieve from a flushed toilet. Forgot that one earlier.

As well, it might be creating a smell that you’ve gone nose-blind to. Like a person’s own BO. Others can smell it long before the “owner” can.

Flushing after every use also creates a habit so that one never forgets to flush after using someone else’s toilet or a public one.
