“I get tons of spam calls so I ignore unknown numbers.”

I only get phone calls from family and from scammers, and occasionally those two groups overlap.

I have no idea how they do it but somehow I only get a lot of scam/spam calls from random numbers when I’m expecting something important, like the plumber/decorator etc. or when looking for jobs. I kind of understand the latter (job sites giving out my contact info to 7 billion scammy 3rd parties), but even when my landlord schedules something for the flat, it’s a coin flip whether I’ll get the next call from the right person.

So yeah, send an email if you want me to actually reply somehow.

Wow, that is what AI good for. Let me do it for you. Just type in the promt in chatgpt.com.

There are several reasons why I cannot be contacted by phone, each stemming from a combination of personal preferences and practical considerations. While the ubiquity of smartphones and the convenience of instant communication may make this choice seem unusual, it's important to recognize the validity of differing communication preferences in today's interconnected world.

Firstly, privacy is a significant factor in my decision to limit phone contact. In an age where digital footprints can be extensive and far-reaching, maintaining a level of privacy is paramount to safeguarding personal information and boundaries. By minimizing phone communication, I mitigate the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive data and maintain control over the dissemination of my personal contact details.

Secondly, productivity and focus play a crucial role in my daily routine. The constant barrage of notifications and interruptions inherent in phone communication can disrupt workflow and hinder concentration. By prioritizing alternative forms of communication such as email or messaging platforms, I can manage my time more effectively and allocate uninterrupted blocks for deep work and creative endeavors.

Furthermore, the impersonal nature of phone calls can sometimes lead to miscommunication or misunderstandings. Without the visual cues and context provided by face-to-face interactions, it's easier for messages to be misconstrued or tone to be misinterpreted over the phone. Written communication, on the other hand, allows for greater clarity and precision in conveying thoughts and ideas, reducing the likelihood of communication breakdowns.

Additionally, environmental considerations influence my choice to limit phone contact. The pervasive use of mobile devices has contributed to the proliferation of electronic waste and the depletion of finite resources. By minimizing phone usage, I aim to lessen my ecological footprint and promote sustainable consumption practices. Choosing to communicate primarily through digital channels also reduces reliance on paper-based communication methods, further aligning with eco-friendly principles.

Moreover, prioritizing asynchronous communication channels aligns with the increasingly global and interconnected nature of modern society. With individuals and teams spanning different time zones and schedules, synchronous communication via phone calls can be challenging to coordinate and may not always be conducive to effective collaboration. Embracing asynchronous communication allows for greater flexibility and accommodates diverse schedules and preferences without sacrificing productivity or efficiency.

In conclusion, while phone communication undoubtedly serves as a valuable tool for connecting with others, it's important to recognize that it may not be the most suitable or preferred mode of communication for everyone. By prioritizing privacy, productivity, clarity, environmental sustainability, and global collaboration, I have chosen to limit phone contact in favor of alternative communication channels that better align with my personal values and objectives.
