Long press collapses the text of parent comment as well and does noting for readability. Your options are, hide everything except usernames or scroll every comment and all replies. There’s no inbetween. IMO the ability to read and scroll top comments without the child comments would be a really nice feature.

I’m not sure why you’re telling me what you want but I think it works the way I would expect it to. The comment I long press collapses.
