I’d prefer that disclaimer too, helps to set the expectations right. Nothing wrong with it being in rats, it is extremely useful to know especially because testing it on humans always raises an eyebrow.

Would it even be possible to test it on humans? I imagine using self-reported usage from an existing pregnant population using marijuana is not valid, and administering it through the study is clearly unethical. I guess you could do regular piss tests, but I don’t know how reliable those are

Hot take, and I know that this isn’t everyone’s tippy top. But I have seen so many people who were once kids born to parents with addictions. And I am talking range alcohol, heroin, cigarettes, crack, meth, coke. How about if you know you’re pregnant and you have a child that you would love to see flourish in the best of ways you just idk…eat food - stay away from high-stress situations, stop using the shit you’re addicted to for at least the 9 months you’re pregnant with your kid, and take multi-vitamins. Someone I love to death is dead because their birth defects leading to a premature death all because of cigarettes. I once knew a couple of sisters who were both crippled because their alcoholic mother. Someone I love can’t breathe some days because of a birth defect. Crack babies and heroin babies are fucking INSANE to even comprehend and the people I have seen who have grown up from that have either had a feeling of profound loss in their lives or been up to absolutely no good. Same with the meth kids, and it’s just awful to see kids - who have absolutely no future because their parents are tweakers. It’s like seriously so fucking sad.

I can’t speak on weed, because it’s taboo and while clearly the science is forming - it’s not a solid thing. But I can’t imagine if all these other substances have done reprehensible harm people I love and know - that weed isn’t right up there. Something I can state is that some people can be real assholes when they have to be sober, when they are addicted and that is one thing I know pretty well too. But eh, this is all opinion. I just you know, I can’t comprehend how someone can’t pump the breaks for at least 9 months. It’s beyond me. But also, addiction is ugly and I for sure scrubbed crack out of a bathroom where a single mother was living because I suppose she went in there to smoke it and keep it “separate” from her kid.

I just hate that people always play at weed as being this innocuous thing. But also always say it does need to be legalized, along with all drugs. I am not sure how it’ll work big picture but perhaps we could look to Portugal to get some clues.

I can’t wait for the drugs to increase brain capacity. I think we need a more complex brain to go beyond our current comprehension abilities in relation to physics.

Maybe - but I think our insecurities are a bigger issue, really. The victim mindsets, blame shifting and all the ego driven avoiding of responsibility seems like a bigger issue to solve

      …I’m possibly projecting here?

And I may be against the Lemmy think here, but I feel that it will be found to be linked to concerning brain changes in the general population as well.

I don’t feel that it’s as healthy as people think it is.
