I feel great right now. But I am concerned I may have to make a choice between providing for my family or making excellent software for lockheed martin at some time in the future. My price is my family’s well being and that isn’t really a secret.
I’m not arguing with you yet, because the only thing you have done is ask me a troll question. All I know is that you don’t like what I have said, but you are too much of a coward to state your own position.
I thought I stated my opinion pretty clearly. I can do it again for you. It is disingenuous to say that everyone has a price, that’s just something people say to make themselves feel better about benefiting from compromising their morals. Everyone needs to look at themselves and their principles and make a decision based on their beliefs and their situation. But saying “if I didn’t someone else would, anyone would do the same, everyone has a price etc…” is a cop-out.
Yeah, I can see that. I sometimes think people don’t have a sufficient imagination when it comes to what the cost could be, or they don’t think some of the horrible stuff could be possible. So I was giving some push back.
I think we need to think about these things because I think we are rapidly heading to a darker place.
I don’t think we can rely on there being a large amount of people like you to take all the hits. I think we need to find a way to share the work amongst everyone to get to a better place. So I think having the expectation that everyone works against their most deeply held interests like family is one that will make us weaker as a whole.
I think you’re trolling me because you don’t have a good counter argument and you are mad.
I’m not mad, I however think you are concocting absurd hypotheticals to make yourself feel better for some reason.

Okay? Good for you, you are a somewhat less principled person than some others. Not sure what you’re arguing about.

So would it be better to say that most people have a price?
Sure? But kind of a weird interjection to make at someone saying that they don’t.
