• carefully packing each item one at a time into the bags that are five feet away
• forgetting where they put their purse/wallet
• finding their glasses case
• putting their glasses on
• finding a huge wad of coupons and handing them all to the cashier in the hope one might be valid
• slowly reading what’s displayed on the contactless payment point
• finding their loyalty card
• finding a payment card and putting it in the machine, taking it back out, turning it around and putting it back in the correct way
• forgetting their PIN
• rummaging around for a post it note that might have the correct PIN written on it
• finding their phone, waiting for it to turn on so they can call three relatives, neighbours etc to see if they know the PIN.
• reopening the wallet to put the card away and getting cash out, starting with a tonne of coins
• being handed their receipt and having a conversation with the cashier
• moving about a foot away to put everything away again, but still managing to block the line
