It’s amazing how many people cheer for corporations. There’s few consistents in the world but a big one is corporations are not your friend.

I’ve owned exactly 0 playstations. The last new(ish) system I had was an N64. Could afford a laptop that could play games but also do schoolwork or have a console, so stuck with computers ever since.
The only time I’ve played Sony based games is when they’re on PC. So… guess Sony is losing my money. I know it’s not much, but interesting to get rid of the small revenue stream in hopes to get people back on console but I guess I don’t understand how fishing for whales is the winning task.

Having worked in factories, the coffee in them is usually the strongest and always available, Blue collar lives on the stuff,

I don’t feel for him. I live in Missouri which is the state that keeps getting more and more red while shitting on everyone every step of the way. If he couldn’t figure that out he’s an idiot.
If he was of voting age to remember the last time Trump was in power, he’s an idiot.
He’s crying now, but the second things are working okay for him and he has a chance to hate again, he’ll start hating again.
I have no use for these assholes anymore.

I have found a couple times an LLM being good for searches. My example is scooters in the US, because of commute I’d like to find an electric scooter, the kind like a Vespa. But you do a search, you find all sorts about the standing scooters, look for electric motorcycles and they start getting to car level prices or aren’t street legal, it gets to be a mess. Chat GPT turned that search into a relatively quick one that I could find a local place that I’m going to check out when there’s not ice on the ground. But the important part was making it require links. As a tool, it can have its uses.
So all of that said… Google and other searches doing AI did fuck all and nothing to help on this, and I agree 100% I do not want AI on the search for DDG

Ehhhhhh… I don’t have faith in it. The manufacturing sector has been in the process of getting worse back when I tried to get into it in 08, and finally gave up on actually finding work in the industry and moved to healthcare. I know people who’ve quit welding jobs because they hit the ceiling on pay and it’s still not making living wages here in the midwest.
Yet that’s an industry that has consistently anti-union my entire life. They just buy into the foreigners taking their jobs. I fear the programming sector will drink the same koolaid, just Indians instead of Mexicans.

Ugh… so many of these, and I look around. I know I’m at minimum 4th generation US on both sides of my family.

I agree on the tricking them, but there’s another part I look at. Basic fucking pattern recognition. The jobs have stopped being the in demand for a while now, and they’re not so much on the negotiating power. But the idea of a union is still apparently more anathema and are shocked at these mass layoffs that keep happening.

Crazy. I want to play a game with staying power.
I want the game that I look at and go “When did I get 1000 hours on the game?” Because I keep coming back to it.
But this is where we agree. I want to play games that are fun.
Seasons, dailies, battle passes, etc aren’t the things that I see as “staying power”, that’s microtransactions to a sunk cost fallacy.
Staying power to me is like Terraria, where I go in, build a world. Run around. Then wander off to something else… to wander back and play more Terraria.

Don’t worry, we won’t get a Blade Runner-esc hellscape.
Because Blade Runner for a movie had to give us a fascinating world that was interesting that even as a hellscape there was a “Man, it’d be cool to be there.”
No, our hellscape is going to be more like how fast food restaurants all look the same now, the corporate architecture version of taupe agreed to by committee.

I have a friend in programming. He says it’s baffling that the entire industry is anti-union and tends to be pretty pro-corporate.

Another thing that gets me is how many people will say voting doesn’t matter when they maybe only vote on presidential elections.
Voting is not a 4 year thing, it’s an absolute grind and locally can affect more of your day to day life, as well as keep building its way. higher up. I live in a state that so many people showed up and voted for bills that went against the state legislature, but they actually voted less for the people… now of course the state is overthrowing the things voted in.
So yes, SO VERY MUCH vote and be active in politics.

At that age, I was trying my hardest to figure out what I’m doing, to be together like the older adults.
I’m 39, I don’t have a clue what I’m doing and I’m more together than most of my coworkers, many who are older than me.
We’re all just trying to figure it out, so when you look up and think you don’t know what you’re doing, you’re with everyone. And if you know someone who says they have everything together and don’t have any issues, be wary as they likely have a lot of blind spots to their life.

I mean… I’m not going to argue the fall of the US isn’t stupider than the fall of Rome…
But I will argue the fall of the US started back when Reconstruction was stopped. Just took a while for the confederates to win.

I’ve always spoke out about corporations. I hate big corps. I have always wanted to get big corps out of running farms.
Fuck it! Hey Tyson, hurry up and buy up every fucking meat farm out there. Bill Gates, buy up whatever is left! Make these fuckers that inherited their pappa’s farms have to work the land after selling it. I don’t fucking care about them anymore.

They haven’t learned, they won’t learn, and they will never learn.

Fuck it, the right wingers don’t believe in rules, why should we?

I remember the last time I ate at mcds. Summer 2020, middle of move, wrapping up about 2am. mcds is the only thing close that’s open, don’t want to have to drive anywhere. I remember their dollar menu used to be tolerable.
Cost me $10 for the “value meal” of the two tiny wimpy cheeseburgers that used to be a dollar, small fries and small drink. And I had to get the meal because it was cheaper than buying separately like I used to do. That is more than double the price I used to have to pay for that meal.

Oh boy, Joe Rogan is just the newest flavor of awful. Bill O’Rielly started the whole current entertainment news by being a comedian who suddenly started being a right wing mouthpiece and any time he got called out on his shit it was “For entertainment purposes only” and he was on about the anti-left wing movements about coastal elites and unions taking workers wages.
But then the right wing even to then was building to massive corporations that donated to them, groups like the biggest anti-union propaganda machine in the world, WalMart. Notice that during the Reagan era they had “Trickle Down Economics” to fool people into thinking if the wealthy were just wealthier, then they too could be wealthier.
And the wars between groups have been speared on by the US since post civil war. Can’t have former slaves having jobs, that’d take from the whites. Can’t have people from overseas taking railroad jobs, that takes jobs from Americans. The big slaveowners of the American South were not the majority, so why did so many people fight for that confederacy? Because they were convinced by those wealthy that if slavery went away, there would go the economy… especially as so many people’s jobs were in existence to the slavery machine.
Joe Rogan wasn’t some new bogeyman who figured out how to overthrow the world. The rich has been finding ways to make poor people fight each other instead of them as a tale as old as time.
I am sad I only have but one upvote to give this post because it’s the correct answer.
