It gets better, because all the money they “lost” on a movie they can also write off. Oops, we didn’t make any money this year because we put out 10 billion dollar movies and only made 10 million at the box office. Tax break please!

All the comments saying it’s a distraction from how the working class is being oppressed by the owner class are right, but also…
There have always been bigots, small town small minded people who don’t “know any gay people” but there was that one skinny boy in their class that didn’t like sports so he was bullied until he left town at 18. And now, that generation of bigots is finally dying out. Not only due to age but due to an increased connection with the greater world. A small town bigot might not know any LGBT people personally but they are aware of their existence, due to television and the Internet. So quietly ignoring people who are different than you doesn’t work anymore. And a dying animal fights harder than ever.
These death throes are useful to the owner class. But they are still dying out. And if we can exterminate capitalism and figure out a way to survive in a post-warmed globe, we might just see the end of (this particular type) of bigotry.
Yes, all those things would have been accomplished sooner if the British had stayed on their own little island. I agree.
Half of Costco’s customers would be blasted!
I’m all for it.
They’re easy to manipulate if you play off their basic tribal fears and religious bigotry. The Democrats are far from a perfect party but they at the very least aren’t openly bigots.
The Beatles once said they were bigger than Jesus. Pitchford is claiming to be as good as the Beatles. Pitchford is claiming to be better than Jesus.
Ok Christian Fundies, cancel this man!
It’s too late, the landleeches have already taken over. Any city remotely worth living in is too expensive to live in, and will remain that way until we eliminate the landleech class.
The biggest hurdle with getting widespread adoption of any scientific breakthrough is cost. If something is not more profitable than the current way of doing things it will not be adopted. Destroying our planet is pretty damn profitable, so until we exterminate capitalism I don’t see anything changing.
Based on my understanding of non-religiously biased history, the character of Jesus Christ is an amalgamation of many Jewish prophets who preached a generally similar message.
People who would ever consider voting for the Toupee have no standards. No bar, no logic or even thought goes in to who they vote for.
The people who are planning to vote against the Toupee have standards. And the Democratic party has continually failed to meet those standards. And the only time the people have any power to pressure a politician is when they’re running for office. Anyone claiming “just vote in the D, then we can focus on getting progress made” is a centrist who is ok being perpetually part of the oppressed class.
Yes, we need to vote against the Toupee, and the GOP in general. We also need a presidential administration who will get progress done. And since the human species has, at best, 30 years left before the majority of the world is uninhabitable, little baby steps won’t cut it.
So Harris and the Dems have a high bar. Because the alternative is fascism, or death by climate change.
A $10k emergency fund? Even banks don’t carry enough cash these days for a working class person to be able to rob a bank to have that kind of money.
No means “I’ll ask you again in 30 days, because we really really want shorts to be a thing.”
Ooh, I’ll have to remember them in the unlikely event that I ever have money. I want nothing more than a 80s F150 retrofit to be all electric.
We’re currently rhyming with history from less than 100 years ago (the rise of fascism), I don’t think having a warning is enough to prevent it from happening again.
Humans are just one of the many influences on Earth’s climate
Proceeds to list a bunch of other things that are the fault of humans.
Since the first two have approximately 6.5 billion people playing them at any given time, I’d still call it a sea.
Companies don’t even realize that sick people shouldn’t be serving food. I wouldn’t hold my breath (unless you’re eating at a restaurant, where there’s a 50% chance an employee is working while sick).
I don’t mind Ground news, though I don’t pay for it and use it mostly as a news headline aggregator.
My nasal passages aren’t properly developed or something so I have to regularly breathe through my mouth. Wonder if anyone can use that, a medical disorder, to sue after being fired.
What if someone richer than the peach grower took a picture of the peaches, and then demanded everyone else pay them instead of the peach grower for copies of the photo of the peaches? Would you still be upset if the peach photographer didn’t make money from every single person who obtained a copy of the photo of the peaches? In some cases, the peach grower got paid before the photo started being sold, in other cases the peach grower gets 0.0004% of the profit from each peach photo sold.
