Mars climate orbiter.
Mars climate orbiter.
That’s a shame, I still remember mine. Weird how you can remember 7 random digits from 30 years ago…
Isn’t this what the new Freenet aims for? A truly decentralized, but not necessarily anonymous, network?
Take StreetComplete with you when you’re out and do pokemon-style quests while at the same time improve the map of the area you’re in.
It’s very fun and quite addictive, and the data you’re providing is open source so it’s not free labour for some huge company.
OpenStreetmap as an alternative to the closed source maps.
OrganicMaps or OsmAnd to navigate and StreetComplete or EveryDoor to improve it.
One adult female rhino.
What’s this weird obsession with measuring everything in anything but metric? How am I supposed to know how much a rhino weighs?
Had they said 1500 - 2500kg it would have been clear as day.
But on a positive note I now know how much a rhino weighs.
I’m using StreetComplete to contribute to OpenStreetmap almost daily.
Does that count?
Very weird. Started with Slackware back in 97 or so. Still not a femboy and no desire to be one.
Maybe if I switched to arch?
Agreed. I mean COBOL is still a thing, and that’s a language that’s been dead for 30+ years.
Brexit
To be fair to the French, they do try to stop the boats. For example: https://www.thelocal.fr/20230902/tighter-french-coast-patrols-in-place-to-stop-channel-migrants
However what went missing after Brexit was the Dublin convention where migrants could be turned back to the first EU country they entered, in this case France.
I think the government tried to negotiate a returns agreement with the french who basically just said “Non!” and that was it. There is a deal where the UK pays France to patrol their coastline and stop migrants however. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong about this last part.
I think it’s needed everywhere. I can start it wherever I happen to be and find a lot of “quests/tasks” to complete.
Is KartaView better in this respect?
Thanks. I’ll continue my small contributions then.
If anyone want to help I can recommend StreetComplete. It’s a bit like pokemon go, but you’ll help improve the map of the world instead. Only in android now I think.
I’m contributing to openstreetmap because I think there should be a free alternative to Google or Apple maps.
Am I running the risk of having my contributions stolen?
It’s definitely one layer of security. If it’s your only layer then you’re in trouble.
For me it was a rather large tree that I hit at about 100km/h (+60mph).
Tree was fine. Car, not so much. The ambulance ride was nice though, and the first responders thought we were extremely lucky to be alive.
Wear your seat belts kids.
Been there, done that. 0/10. Do not recommend.
