Thank you, Vimium has recently been getting out of whack for me. Whenever I use it to scroll, the clickable areas don’t scroll at the same rate until I use my trackpad to scroll, which really defeats the purpose of keyboard navigation

True, but the M1 MacBooks have really taken a beating in price. And the Airs were already quite a good deal to start with, so they do still seem competitive (8GB RAM notwithstanding). Been using a base model air since launch, and unless I hit swap super hard (I rarely do) it’s still great :)
Not sure if it’s literally FOSS, but OpenAI’s Whisper is the best transcription I’ve ever used and the models are all free to download and use locally.
How in the hell has George Saunders not been brought up wtf?
Aside from native proton, being able to do everything (easily) from the controller. It’s amazing how often you still need a mouse, or just the windows key, in windows :(
Think home as in a place you live, vs house as in a place where people can live. The landlord owns a bunch of houses, which are themselves other peoples’ homes
Excel does always seem to be the thing people can’t substitute, which is weird because it doesn’t seem terribly more complicated than Word (?)
I think this is a difference of use case. I use mine for writing long-form prose, so the dry out times aren’t an issue (though I do sometimes slip it into the cap if I’m considering where to go next). The skating is nice because I don’t have to put too much pressure on the pen and get hand cramps. I also like refilling the pen once it gets low, but I have a piston filler so that happens less often than with cartridges.
All that said, if I had to use my fountain pen to take notes in school again, I would absolutely hate it. Quick, random note taking is basically a worst case scenario for a fountain pen, so I do see where you’re coming from. Glad you’re happy with the ballpoints :)
It’s good, Bront
Outer Wilds, like all of it. Falling into the black hole made me actually scream in terror, then shiver for how small being away from the solar system makes you feel. Also the quantum moon, and that ending holy fuck
Fountain Pen fans in shambles (me included)
Loving that is quick proof that I’m a lib :(
Don’t know how close this gets to what you want, but I really dig my Withings steel. Small watch, standard analog face with step tracking subdial and a tiny lcd display that you can set to show different stats from the watch. You need an app to set it up, since it only has a single button for input, but after that I think you can just uninstall the app and be fine for the alarms you set up, heart rate readout, and whatever custom step goal you set. Also it lasts a month on a charge, which is absolutely awesome if you hate charging these damned things as much as I do
Fountain pens. Honestly, most people look at me more weirdly when I mention a nib’s feedback than when I mention the means of production.
His position is that he’s an asshole who won’t stand up to the US lol
