As a followup, the function to generate these reports was in Sharepoint Online itself. Somewhat hidden/poorly named.

A simple PC, you can also use it to browse, download stuff, Steam stream etc. The possibilities are endless
Calling it very flaky is somewhat strong but there are a lot of cases (or at least people repeating it) of people not getting 4 sticks stable on overclock profiles. I don’t know any numbers ofcourse but if you have the luxury to plan ahead and go for 2x16 you won’t risk it.
Some reading: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1469735-4-sticks-of-ram-zen4/ (not only talks about zen4)
AMD and more than two sticks of ram is very flaky…
Cracking encryption gets easier over time. This is a timebomb.
Kinda disagree here, my parents also won’t install Windows or any other OS by themselves. An average person isn’t going to switch to an alternate OS. Because they do not care.
An average person however IS going to want that specific Windows only mail client, legacy applications that don’t run on Linux or use their bank website that isn’t supported by Linux.
This is a one way ticket to making yourself the sole family sysadmin.
If you run Windows, that CPU is not oficially supported by Windows 11 and might be something to keep in mind.
Then again, rebuying all your games and paying way too much for them is something to take into account. But admittedly, the PS5’s thing where you can play some PS4 games is pretty neat.
Can you name them for me because I can’t seem to find them for sale in Europe. Apart from Axis.
If you have duplicate shortcuts you probably have the same OneDrive account on multiple computers. Put them on your public desktop in stead of your own OneDrive backed up desktop.
Interesting article but not really what we’re looking for:
This option is especially useful for computers with multiple users and for when you don't want executable files running from a user profile.
Other than where the sync app is installed, the behavior is the same.
It’s not the installation but the configuration that is causing trouble. FSLogix would require on-prem hardware.
We were expecting the same and wishes MS just admitted this to us so we can go on.
We have no good mechanisms to deploy startup scripts and try to rely as much as possible on the best-practises Microsoft has. If we ever get those anyway…
Sorry but I hate this argument. Most people use a phone for that anyway. And my 70 year old mom is going to ask my dad and if he can’t fix the problem someone else and guess what. They never worked with Linux. I can tell you that a lot of the buttons and controls have looked the same in Windows for way too long. Admittedly from Windows 10/11 this gets worse.
Also they will need software from the local photo place, some shit old legacy app that they refuse to let go, banking software that isn’t Linux compatible… it’s never “just browsing” from my experience and it’s not worth the hassle. Especially if I’m cornering myself by becoming the only 24/7 on-call admin for my family.
We had this a lot during Covid where people just registered free Teams accounts with their work e-mail adresses. These environments are super small so I will check it out to be sure!
Thanks for taking the time to reply!
Thanks for you insight, your environment sounds ways more complex but then again, miles better configured.
After some research it now seems to point to a registry cleaning script used to clean up bizarre amounts of entries created by certain printer drivers that were added each time a user logs on or off.
We aren’t sure yet since it can easily not happen for a few weeks out of itself but fingers crossed!
Thanks for taking the time to respond as I have should way faster…
No sorry, we use the same config across the board so that wouldnt explain the randomness. Ill look into it though.
So is paying for car repair or a builder when a lot of times you can do it yourself and save money. But it’s not that simple. Time and effort are resources too.
In this case, when the whole familiy is involved and also taking into account that YT Premium also accounts for my work laptop and my phone I can easily understand why OP chooses to pay for YT Premium instead of more reasons to be the family helpdesk…
Brotato and after that Blasphemous 2 probably!
