These types of protest happen in my country quite often and the worst I have heard the cops do is carry them away in purposefully painful ways or give full cavity searches after arresting.

From my daily 7,5h I‘d say about 3h of meetings and 2h of work

Reading books. I enjoy it so much because it distracts me from depression, but depending on the book, it also can be enlightening in some ways and doesn‘t require me to really do much or go anywhere.

forms of electronic communication (such as websites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (such as videos)
Definition wise, it‘s clearly social media. I get it though, the corporate giants feel more rage bait-y due to the algorithms they employ.

And yet he could see matter as a stranger, compare himself to all phenomena, see through and locate his vital processes. He comes to nature as an unbidden guest, in vain extending his arms to beg conciliation with his maker: Nature answers no more, it performed a miracle with man, but later did not know him.
To sum up how I understand this poetic piece of text (The Last Messiah from a Norwegian philosopher Zapffe). It‘s a feature of consciousness, that we can even perceive ourselves as apart from nature. Considering our subjugation of it in various ways and currently underway destruction of the climate, it makes sense to me too to differentiate.

I liked my iPhone, but if they fuck with AdGuard I‘ll switch. Google seems to be spearheading this though, and if they get AWS/Azure etc on board, will there be any way to escape it at all? This worries me a bit.
If I may give an additional suggestion? Maybe let the beard get trimmed too and get some tips on how to maintain that while you‘re at the stylist.

That seems like reason enough to flee, I wouldn‘t wait until they become aware enough of you to strip your citizenship. Maybe Finland would be ok: https://en.seta.fi/human-rights-support/asylum-for-the-lgbt-and-activists/
Good luck, I hope you will be safe.

What a mistake of me to even be on social media at all, if it‘s just supposed to be a popular sentiment marketing circlejerk!
LostCause@kbin.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Netflix password crackdown has actually caused a growth in Subscriptions89·2 years agoStupidity is in the eye of the beholder. You can judge me as stupid in return for thinking that of these new subscribers if you want and then we‘ll both go our ways. Only one of us will pay Netflix no matter how much they enshittify their service or how much they raise their prices (since it‘s “priceless”) and one won‘t. C‘est la vie.

LostCause@kbin.socialto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How some people afford to travel around the world for months without working?1·2 years agoMy former landlord did that, quite simply: he inherited the building and he paid for his travels with our rent. Just how our society is structured. I still liked him more than my current landlord, cause that is a company and it‘s straight impossible to even find out where this money goes. Maybe some billionaire who won‘t even appreciate it cause among 1000s properties it‘s almost a rounding error. At least with my former landlord I could hear some of his stories of what he experienced.
LostCause@kbin.socialto World News@lemmy.ml•Cruise line apologizes after dozens of whales slaughtered in front of passengers53·2 years agoWell yeah that is what I was talking about, though the articles I saw didn‘t mention any reason at all and if they had said “shits and giggles” I‘d be even more sceptical of that, since I don‘t think animals really fight without a reason.
Now here is where we get to my wild conspiracy theory, I think aquatic species may not like boats, who they can see killing their species or hunting their food sources. Then they react to a predator, so either they flee or attack. Orcas being some of the bigger ones are probably the few who stand any chance whatsoever fighting, so they might try sometimes.
Edit: Ok I just googled around and saw the articles you mentioned saying they do it for fun, I also found this: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jul/11/the-orca-uprising-whales-are-ramming-boats-but-are-they-inspired-by-revenge-grief-or-memory
Which made me feel a bit more like at least I‘m not the only one who sees this possibility and also gave me more of an idea of why I might want to see this so much (I think there is an injustice happening).
LostCause@kbin.socialto World News@lemmy.ml•Cruise line apologizes after dozens of whales slaughtered in front of passengers44·2 years agoIn completely unrelated news, some whales seem to be attacking boats/yachts. How weird! Why could this be?
