I’ve loaded Mint on my prime system and a laptop, another laptop with Fedora, Manjaro on another main system I test with and EndeavorOS on all my media systems. I’ve also loaded about 8-10 other distros on Proxmox to play/test with.

Where I had doubts on whether I needed anything off of the old MS system, I P2V’ed the OS and spool it up on Proxmox if needed to review any history within the OS/browser.

I still have a couple of W10 VMs lingering and a Windows server. I’ll “upgrade” the workstation VMs to W11 (and shut them down) since I have the license and I can see sometimes having to use Windows for whatever dumb reasons. I’ll leave the Windows server for now to maintain the domain as that allows me to block telemetry with GPOs. I may tire of that at some point though as MS will further wane away on my network.

My summer task is to convert all my 'Arrr software over to Linux versions. Still on W10 there. Wasn’t sure which distro to go to for that…

Yes. I have emptied many disposable bags and kept on using them. Takes five or ten minutes and is a filthy job (don’t rip it!), but quicker than chasing down more bags.

I’ll bet you could use some type of modern sealant to make a “rubber” gasket. Spooge it out onto a glass or stainless surface, shape it and let it dry. Trim to fit and viola. Bob’s your auntie.

In light of the hard times coming down the pike, we’ll all need to be more resourceful with mending and maintaining all the products that were planned to be scrap after one year (or warranty expiration).

Edit: I would also add that if this gasket touches food or food surfaces, do not use just anything that might transfer toxic elements. Also, I hang on to all sorts of stuff and have a stash of rubber bits I toss into a bin. Something could be made from that as well. My pack-rat ways are going to finally pay off. ;(

Yah, I was about to mention ego being very much involved in all of this from the purchase of the “truck” to feeling spurned by not being asked to help. My ego would be hard-pressed to avoid educating him. Politely, of course.

LOL. I have a truck for towing and other truck-related things and am quite happy to help others with aforementioned truck activities when asked. The amount of times I get upset when people don’t call me to do truck things is like, hmmmm let’s see…zero. It is zero times. A shrug is all I might manage to evoke from the drama.
