What better help is there than to get somebody to learn how to Google?

What did Google tell you? You googled it right? Before asking strangers on the internet to use their time to do it for you?
What did Google say when you tried asking it before wasting other people’s time?

Dork. If you can’t do that repair yourself then you shouldn’t be playing video games and should be practicing reading instead. Google and a screwdriver would have you sorted out in like 30 minutes except that you’ve learned to be helpless. Now you are pretending to be the victim of the company instead of the victim of your own wasted life.
Check how much of that stuff is actually needed to physically back up. Odds are it’s on the cloud already. I got a house calls for this kind of thing a few times a day and almost always the answer is "your Apple/Google/Microsoft storage has all your pictures and videos already.
I get people that ask me about setting up network storage arrays pretty often, but almost none of them want to go through with it.
I don’t know what your time is worth, and I would still set something up just because I felt like it or was curious, but almost nobody needs a home network storage system. Just figure out what people need to sync, set it up, and plug a hard drive into your router. Odds are once you try to figure out what they are trying to sink, you’ll realize that it already has automatically synced to their cloud storage.
If you really want to do it as a project and are near Maryland, I will give you some closed box Network storage arrays from 2012 with hundreds of terabytes between them in unused fiber optic hard drives.
Maybe but if you can’t use Google you won’t be able to use them either.

It looks like you’re probably just running into an issue where Apple are douchebags. It looks like you might be able to go through a tedious process to make controllers work if you have an older Mac, but if you have a M2 chip or whatever you are probably just screwed for the time being.
Why? If you Google that you instantly get an answer. The first page provides answers as good as the best answer from this post. What is the purpose? Wasting as many people’s time as possible to avoid googling something? Why do you feel it is appropriate to ask that question to multiple people rather than googling it?
