Why mix displaying images with the encryption?
Just encrypt the entire drive / partition and then use whatever image program you want.

Not all datacenters bother with noise abaitment.

Because it costs them money to stream, so it’s in their interest to make sure you don’t just queue up a bunch of stuff and fall asleep.
Until you get used to a game where discarding the mag actually discards the remaining rounds too

You can try a “ground loop isolator” to get rid of the hum

Check lsmod and see if the kernel modules are loaded. Nvidia smi is probably loading them for you on first run.
Edit your bootloader config and turn off quiet / splash so you actually get a useful boot log.

The source code is private, how can you call that open source?

I owned several xps in a row, then got one with that touch bar. I returned it and stayed away since. Smart move to ditch it
Imagine a disk shelf of 24 drives being connected by a pair of sas loops. You’d want the faster speeds then. It’s not about individual drives.
One is 6gb sas and the other is 12gb.
You probably won’t notice a difference
As someone with both, I actually really appreciate that my dog forces me out on regular walks.

Unfortunately he’s maga & anti trans 😢

Doesn’t really make sense for self hosting. Filtering the traffic is pointless if the traffic just completely overwhelms your internet.
Also generally self hosters aren’t running bgp with their own asn.

I’ve deployed substantial quantities of gear in 9 datacenters across 4 countries in my career. I’ve gotten a panicked call from Bell Canada when they realized our deployment density in an older facility, then had to work with them to provide weights of all of our cabinets. Sure though, all armchair nonsense. What’s your background?
30 seconds searching will back me up. https://www.digitalrealty.com/resources/articles/what-floor-loading-capacity-do-dlr-data-centers-have

Weight. If you load a 42u rack up with 30lb servers you’re at 1280lbs spread out over about 4sqft, which is over the floor loading limit for most buildings. It’s much cheaper to support the weight in a wider building compared to a taller one.
That being said I’ve been in many data centers in the middle of a giant office towers, but they have lower weight limits generally.

It’s horrible about sleeping. If you want your battery, turn it off. The latest update seems to be better, but I wouldn’t trust it in your shoes.
So use gocryptfs and mount it to a folder.
Modern crypto is really fast though, your CPU has aes extensions that make the performance hit negligible. Doing the entire drive isn’t unreasonable.
