The old gif format doesn’t support audio. Anything called gif with audio are mp4 video files. On the imgur site, you may have seen files with the extension gifv, but…
Quote : “When you view a GIFV file on a website such as Imgur, you’re viewing a video file, which would normally have the file extension .mp4 or .webm. The server is configured to serve the video using the extension “.gifv,” but the video’s file format is unchanged.”
Lemmy’s web instances do not display real videos. Also some applications, like Jerboa, do not display videos. Because of this, you have to convert the video to the outdated animated picture format - gif.
This format appears in all applications and web instances, but does not contain audio.
I think if we all flood the developers with requests for video support in Lemmy, things might change.
Are you sure this is a new application?
What about the simplest and most understandable application for beginners, this is the PWA app Pinafore.
For those who have used third-party applications for Reddit, such as Infinity and Boost, Pinafore will be quite comfortable.
The last activity on the page was many months ago.
On their website page 404
And where can I find the compiled installation files?
I noticed that this post is not displayed in all instance.
Yesterday there was a post in the Cats community that earned only two likes in a few hours. Probably the publication was visible only on the author’s instance and on the instance that I use.
The most environmentally friendly form of air transport
It looks good, in the style of email apps.
The style of the instance is good, too.
I enabled traffic logging in the firewall After stopping all Internet applications, only Google framework services exchange traffic. This is probably the activity of system applications.
As for browser traffic, I don’t know which IPs may belong to advertising services.
I found some mention in the search engine:
“AppTornado with its product AppBrain provides an Android apps discovery, promotion and monetization platform to developers and users. It provides play store analytics in the means of rankings and statistics to developers and an optimization platform based on cost per install for their Android apps. It enables users to discover apps using the platform by providing personalized and daily app recommendations.”
i wrote above that I went to the Mastodon instance and there were no trackers there.
For the purity of the experiment, I reinstalled the browser again and the first site I visited was a Mastodon instanse https://social.tchncs.de/
There are no trackers.
I went to the Lemmy.world website and the firewall also found this tracker.
Yes. I specifically downloaded the new jQuarks browser just now to make it easy to detect new trackers, and went to https://lemmy.today . Firewall shows tracker appbrain.com
I don’t use an mp3 player. It is inconvenient to carry two devices in your pocket at once. But phones tend to lack physical buttons to control music, and that’s inconvenient.
I remember the times of push-button phones and special models for music: nokia music, sony walkman.

When I read that someone is planning to open their code, I remember the news about the releases of the Sailfish operating system: “The operating system is partially open source, but the layer for running Android apps is proprietary. However, the code of this layer was planned to be made open in 2017”
Planning doesn’t mean doing.
Everyone has had that experience as a child where your friends loudly call you to go out for a walk, but your mum says “He won’t go out, he has homework to do!”.
