I can only speak for how it shows up on Mastodon, but over there any hashtags we try and add here just show up as plain text and don’t show in the actual tag feed, so it does nothing for discoverability.
I live an increasingly confusing double life as TeaHands the game dev, and TheGiddyStitcher, multicrafter extraordinaire!
Currently working on my first ever commercial indie game, a minimalist city builder.

UK answer: city 100% no question.
Being able to actually get places and do things and have people to do those things with, I don’t even know how a small town could ever compare. Grew up in one, currently living in another one, both crap.
For the Mastodon users among us, obligatory plug https://streetpass.social
Thank you for experiencing this so the rest of us don’t have to.
!nowhereelsetoshare@sh.itjust.works is for exactly this!

Rock and stone, my friend ⛏
I’m still using the v1 headset but have to admit this would probably tip me over into upgrading.
Shoutout to !raccoonforlemmy@lemmy.world for saving us when Liftoff went under.
All kinds of things really although mostly they’re on my list to learn so I’ll have them one day. Tatting might be my main one for 2024.
(Edit: Forgot the “why”. Mostly because it’s come up twice lately here on Lemmy and I feel left out while other people are making pretty lace)
I do wish I could learn to draw a bit better, to play the piano, and to speak multiple languages. But realistically I don’t have that kind of time so have to go with things that are quicker to pick up!
Figure out what sort of thing you’d like to see, check out the related hashtag feeds. You can follow tags as a good way to get started and follow individual people as and when they pop up with something cool.
I have a really out of the loop question that will probably make me sound like a troll, but really I’m just old and out of the loop:
What exactly are the unique features of Tumblr? as far as I recall it was just a blogging site with support for specific post formats, right? Did it get more complicated than that?
Jes!
(That’s Esperanto for “yes”. It’s pronounced “yes” 😄)
Saluton, mia amiko 👋
‘Bough’ and ‘bow’ are pronounced the same
Except, of course, when “bow” is pronounced “bow” instead.
Most recent post there was 2 hours ago. You might have it blocked or something.
To add to Otter’s reply, one of the best ways to keep growing after the initial announcement is simply just to make sure you mention and properly link it whenever it’s relevant to the conversation.
a) Lets people know the community exists and b) gives them a way to go straight there without having to faff about.
I seeee! Never heard the finer details of that whole thing (I was young and not super into his stuff anyway). Smart guy though by the sounds of it!
Could’ve picked something easier to pronounce, though.
I remember posting this question just after the Reddit exodus so went back to look at my stats from back then. According to the post I’d been on Lemmy for 12 days and had subscribed to:
That was just on this account though, and I have two accounts with fairly different feeds. So let’s say I was probably on a total of around 180-200 then across both accounts, and have been adding them at a slow but steady rate
That gives us a scientifically sound estimate of my current total subscriptions: a lot.
