I was using the quantized version :(
But again, do remember that this was when the first open sourced AI models had just begun to come out. Stuff from Open Assistant for example. I don’t even remember the name of the model that I was running (it was just too weird and funny lol). I just remember it being HUGE, quite dumb and making my device sweat lol.
HOLY HELL THAT’S COOL. It can do so much too!!!
I locally installed some small LLM model more than a year ago. It took up like 25 gigs or something along with all CUDA libraries n stuff. It was alright, but I figured that cloud based solutions were the best for my use case, as they were better and for free.
I had no idea that open sourced AI progressed so much in the last year. Amazing stuff!
RIGHT?!!! IT’S SO FKIN AMAZING
This is especially going to be useful for me as a student. It’s just feels like browser 2.0 at this point haha
Don’t want to install and maintain 10gigs of cuda stuff on my PC. Next, my mum won’t know how to do that. Her laptop is a potato. This add-on makes all of this way easier.
OAN, I think over time, the community will see that AI was a bubble, but in the same way that the internet was a bubble back in the day.
Surprised to see this opinion on Lemmy haha. Yep, totally agree with ya here!
You could call this a meta analysis
Ok. But I like typing like that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh. Ok. Ig I am “weirdly lazy” then. No harm in that I suppose.
I swear I’m not. I’m just rlly rlly confused with why people r saying the things they’re saying. I don’t understand.
Ooookay… How’s that relevant here tho… I’m so confused
What’s t9?
Isn’t it true tho? YouTube’s a privacy nightmare- they know everything about ur content preferences, ur political learnings, everything. Without a VPN + no account, say goodbye to any semblance of privacy.
But ur data gets raped if u don’t use a VPN + no account (but then u don’t get to see age restricted material)
Oh definitely. Canonical forcing us to use snap Firefox was very shitty. I mean I still use Ubuntu because I’m lazy, but I did change the snap Firefox thing to the apt libraries or whatever.
I really don’t understand why they don’t just adopt flatpak.
I have NODE installed using snap lmao. Why? Installing it the normal way just gives me tons of errors that I’m too bored to deal with. I’m sure there’s a fix, but I’m too lazy to debug all that. Of course, I don’t use snap node for hosting servers and stuff. I just use it for react native. Regardless, it works n I’m happy lol
Which I’m also not opposed to, if it was set up well
Wonderful! I’m working on it hard and fast. U’ll most likely start seeing updates on it (actual images of the UI and so on) hopefully from tomorrow. I have an MVP almost ready (around 2 hrs of work remaining). I’ll post about this from a different account soon!
I’m selling both. I’m saying that my functional product is superior because it has been developed democratically. At no point will some MBA guy waste money on a pointless rebrand when it could have been spent on some necessary feature. At no point will some rando billionaire come up and say, “ok, links in posts will be indistinguishable from images”.
Again, same reason why democracies r almost always superior to dictatorships. Democratic governments work for the people more when compared to dictatorships. It makes the products n services that they offer superior.
If it is approved by the FDA? HECK YEAH BAYBEEE
