Nahhh I’m gonna keep calling stuff like this out unless you convince me there’s some other reason for it than making it stand out. It’s bad posting etiquette and I’d rather it not be the norm.
Extra bandwidth, no word wrap, not accessible.

Only like a third of actors change their name
Hey how about we leave the stupid text-as-an-image crap on Facebook? Ironic to request a clean UI for Lemmy when you’re cluttering it with useless images…

My opinion is that this community needs some damn rules to differentiate it from asklemmy where “what do you think about X” posts make sense. We stole a bunch of subreddit’s names but apparent not what makes them unique

How the hell would anyone on this site know the answer? Hypothetical questions like this are useless

Oof, looks like 2010s Buzzfeed changed headlines forever
It IS a cool feature but the privacy concerns kinda override any positivity I might have toward it. If it was completely offline with available source code, I’d be on board.

Well…yeah? Last I checked, Epic hasn’t been heavily investing in things that deliberately loosen Microsoft’s grip on the market lol

Replace “Gabe” with “Taylor.” Celebrity worship is always lame. I can’t imagine being so obsessed with anyone that I’d make a social media account about them

That does not make sense because what you’re seeing in the thumbnail isn’t what they used AI for lol

Yeah, you’ll definitely be safer if you ever, uh, work for the government file a whistleblower complaint. Another point to bikes!
Jokes aside, it’d be way easier to kill you on a bike and they could make it look like an accident. Plus it’s not like those are the only 2 options.

The first question is a good one for this community IMO. The rest, not so much.

Well, my understanding was that it’s not for ANY stupid question but for questions with actual answers that you feel stupid asking.
I felt stupid asking this because my understanding doesn’t jive with what I’m seeing. Which is 99% open-ended questions.
I think it does matter, though. Homogeny kills communities.

That’s what I’d expect, too, but that’s not what we’ve been getting unfortunately

Yeah that’s the invitation I get as well. I don’t want to block this community because I liked its namesake but I’m gonna of it’s just going to be these trash posts non-stop

It’s not overlap, though. There are basically no posting rules here which makes it functionally identical. We took the subreddit name but not the rules that made it a good subreddit.
The best communities are the ones with guidelines. There is no such thing here so it’s just asklemmy2 which is… disappointing.

That was my understanding as well but if you look at what’s getting posted here, that’s clearly not the case

Doesn’t really matter how you sort (active, top week, top month, etc), most of the questions are open-ended/opinion.

This is a straight up stupid question. Vague as hell with no real answer. Is this what this community is now?
Thank you! Try making the content stand out instead of the thumbnail
