Why is this community suddenly filled with these open-ended opinion requests? What is the point of having a separate community from asklemmy?

The fediverse is falling into the same “eh, close enough” trap that homogenizes communities. Look at nostupidquestions, it’s already a general questions community devoid of uniqueness

Hitler was born in Austria to Austrian parents and was raised in Germany, sure. You can blame his German upbringing.

But Trump was born in New York. So was his dad. And his mom is from Scotland.

Thiel was born in Germany but his family moved in South Africa when he was an infant and then moved again to the US before he was a teen.

My prediction is that Anthropic will “win” the AI arms race in the US but it won’t really matter because Deepseek continues to one-up them and OpenAI’s bankruptcy will destroy the economy anyway

Without context I wouldn’t know what was going on here. US law tells you to pull over to the same side so my first thought wasn’t emergency vehicles. I couldn’t blame a US driver for not knowing German road law

That is the law in the US as well. TWICE I’ve seen someone ignore it and both times other citizens (in cars as well as pedestrians) bully the driver into following it.

I don’t like when people work my name into a conversation (“that’s a good point, glimse!” Not “hey glimse how’s it going?”) because it makes me…suspicious. Like mind instantly jumps to the tactic taught to sales people to build rapport with prospective customers.

I’m inclined to think whoever added that section did so maliciously and since it’s not a popular article, no one noticed. Wikipedia thrives in part because of people like us!

Someone without your skillset is going to read that section and not know any better. Just delete it and explain why. I’ve made hundreds of edits over the years and I’ve never even made an account.
