science@lemmy.world•'Rogaine' in a Pill? Oral Minoxidil Aces Major Hair Loss TrialEnglish
21·11 days agoIt’s definitely cheaper but it being easier is debatable. It takes wayyyy more effort to shave 90 times than to make a stop after work to sit for 20 minutes.
And I made it pretty clear I wasn’t talking about vanity. I just don’t love having to put a sharp blade to my head first thing every morning for it to not look like a crackhead.

science@lemmy.world•'Rogaine' in a Pill? Oral Minoxidil Aces Major Hair Loss TrialEnglish
91·11 days agoPeople always say this but, even putting aesthetics aside, I’d choose a full head of hair any day.
You talk about the speed of shaving but don’t say you have to do it every day or it looks like shiiiit. I used to go 2-3 months between haircuts and they cost $20+tip
And like the chad guy, we’re using it to make fun of people who use it in earnest. We’re not calling people soyboys and do not need to avoid the word “soyjak”
Is this a bit where you play a caricature of a 2010 Tumblr user? Soyjak is the name of the meme character.
Spouse sounds dumb.
What corporation calls their employees partners?
I guess if you consider silently scrolling through variations on the same dozen jokes over and over a form of exploration…
It’s a bit ironic when meme culture cluttered and homogenized the internet
I got weirdly emotional the other day reading about Yellowstone and thinking about what people must have thought when they stumbled on Old Faithful.
Had they ever seen anything like that? Probably didn’t even know what it was. Even if they were a first generation American, it’s not like Europe is covered in geysers.
I got kinda sad knowing that every major natural feature on earth has already been discovered. I know that’s hyperbolic but…the bottom of the ocean isn’t something a normal person will ever see.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft drops Copilot branding in Notepad for Windows 11 for everyone, but it’s really just a renameEnglish
11·13 days agoWhat they did to notepad was the final straw for me.
A Singaporean woman was the first person I heard refer to their opposite-sex partner as “partner” back in probably 2010 and I adopted it. I had a pretty skewed idea of marriage as a kid and it instantly changed my thinking.
Your spouse SHOULD be your partner. You’re on a team facing this big stupid world together.

Technology@lemmy.ml•3 satellites to track all? Chinese radar images confirm US military fears

This is not a good article.

Technology@lemmy.ml•3 satellites to track all? Chinese radar images confirm US military fears
42·14 days agoThere is nothing TO understand. It’s “this thing happened. Here’s two statements of what that might mean”
Partner sounds corporate…?
If anything, it sounds more scientific

Technology@lemmy.ml•3 satellites to track all? Chinese radar images confirm US military fears
123·15 days agoThis breakthrough suggests that, with just three satellites, China could achieve global, 24/7, all-weather reconnaissance coverage of high-value targets, including US naval fleets.
To match this capability, other countries might need to deploy hundreds, if not thousands, of satellites.
Suggests that…Might need to…I don’t think the author is familiar with the subject matter they’re reporting on
Just say partner. It’s a better description of what a marriage should be AND it’s gender neutral

Political Weirdos @lemmy.world•Heroic Trump Saves Eight AI Women from Iran
21·15 days agoI’m certainly no fan of any corporate news, I just don’t like cursing as a schtick. It’s similar with the Some More News guy, I just can’t vibe with his “fed up and drunk about it” persona for long.
That said, I read this article and didn’t find his language in it anywhere near as bothersome as his old tweets.

Political Weirdos @lemmy.world•Heroic Trump Saves Eight AI Women from Iran
41·15 days agoI generally agree with his opinions but I got so burned out with the schtick. He spent all day every day replying to political tweets with the same vocabulary as a tween at a sleepover. Fuckin shit, you can tell I’m serious because I’m fuckin swearing!!
Screenshots of his replies flooded every political community on the internet, too. You couldn’t escape
