Nah. I definitely don’t plan on getting this game but there’s a market for what you’re describing. They’re called “idle games” and there’s a shitton of them.

I’m using all the default launch options for Steam and Battle.net (through Faugus Launcher), the only thing I’ve touched is Window Rules.

I was wrong when I said it worked for me - I forgot I still had Window Rules set for Terraria (the game that made me make this post). I just tried with BG3 and was unable to replicate it. Here is what I did, am I trying correctly?:

1. Set game to Borderless Window and disable VSync (tried it On as well, no change)

2. Alt+tab to other window. Meta+scroll up a bunch of times

3. Alt+tab to game. Meta+down once

How did you set scroll as a shortcut? I found the option but it doesn’t accept scrolling as an input

Either way, this has the same effect as Keep Below where ALL windows stay above the game. And still requires hiding the taskbar which I’m really trying to avoid - if for no other reason than it pops up any time my mouse gets near the bottom of the screen

Turns out it was turned off by default. I tried it both ways to no avail.

I can alt+tab and the window shows up above the game (until I click back into the game) so it’s obviously capable of it. Windows also have no issues displaying above the game when I have the game set to Keep Below Others.

I have no technical knowledge on how this works but it seems like “Keep Above Others” isn’t actually moving it to the top layer.

Kind of. Mostly. I “hear” it in my head and it’s very clearly not an external aound. And it doesn’t…make sound. My completely unscientific explanation is that the part of my brain that is supposed to visualize stuff is repurposed. It’s like synaesthesia, I FEEL the sound waves. But it’s not at all similar to how music can elicit emotions.

I was moreso alluding to breaking the song apart into separate instruments in my head in the same way one might be able to think of a person and focus on, say, their eyes alone. This isn’t super accurate but if I had to compare it to something visual, picture it like a project file for a song. Every single instrument has its own track and mix and mute as needed…that only explains the melody and rhythm, I “feel” the tone, too, but I can’t think of how to describe it.

It’s like an speaker in ferrofluid. The tracks have a “shape” for its tone that changes. I feel crazy trying to explain this lol

I went 30 years thinking “mental images” were just a turn of phrase. Had no idea people were actually visualizing stuff like that.

I had a bit of a mental breakdown once because of it. Everyone knows their partner’s eye color, right? How can I be in love with her if I can’t see them when I close my eyes?

But I’m as good at audiating sound as I am bad at visualizing imagery. I can usually play back any isolated instrument in a song and can recognize a voice I haven’t heard in 20 years. But if you leave the room and ask me what color shirt you were wearing, I wouldn’t be able to tell you.

I feel that. I’m on the design side and have nothing to do with software…once my engineering package (drawings, hardware documentation, etc) is delivered, it’s on the shop to program and configure. I wouldn’t have known the firmware version even if this was a 2026 project!
